Murph66,

It might help if you can provide what machine this is used in.  If you could post a photo showing the game that would be even better.  It has a part number of OS-109 on it but, without knowing the game it's a bit of a blind search.

My wild A guess is that it might be a Sega with those part # stampings.

Good point!  Lol

It is a Mills but the body style isn't like many I've seen.  There is no model i can see but there is a number stamped on the chassis 117/4

The file size restrictions make it a challenge to post pics or even screen shots.  As i result i have uploaded 2 short videos to youtube.
<a href="http://youtu.be/fDaaHRwa7rk" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://youtu.be/fDaaHRwa7rk</a>

<a href="http://youtu.be/CQmG21KeX7k" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://youtu.be/CQmG21KeX7k</a>

Thank you for the help.

Murph66,

Your game is a Sega.  It could have been a "Diamond 3 Star" or even a "Mad Money" machine.  I am not sure about the Mills badge on it.  But, if it was a Mad Money machine it may have been re-badged due to the lawsuit against Sega for the Alfred E. Neuman/Mad magazine theme.

I can't help source your needed part but, at least you have some info on your game.  Sega originally used Mills mechs before they started making their own.

Hopefully, another member here can help you out on your search.

It looks like part of the escalator, maybe. Did the machine work at one time or did you get it in non-working condition?

The picture size limit is 1 MB. That's plenty big for viewing on the forum. Just reduce the image size. Youtube videos are great but tend to vanish over the years and don't help anyone new that may encounter the same or similar problem.

Can you post a photo of that part in relation to exactly the position it was on in the machine? I'm not an expert on mechanical slot but I think I have the resources to find out.

@63mini thank you!
@shortrackskater much appreciated.  No this machine was not working when I got it.  I can tell someone previously worked on this and did a horrible weld on the part needed.  Th internal mech has been rebuilt and is working great but the coin mech escalator is a mess.  I will upload some lower resolution photos from my iPad in a moment.  Thank you.

Is there any other name on that escalator? Some of the Sega's had a different brand escalator although they didn't have Mills or Sega on the front. This machine might have been pieced together or parts just changed out over the years.

no thee isn’t any other names on the escalator at all.  I did notice that every part number is clearly marked starting with “OS-“ for whatever that is worth.

I've seen diagrams of that escalator. It's very close to or is basically Mills I believe. They're not hard to rebuild actually but if you have a broken part you will need to find a replacement. I may have a source for you. Most rebuilds just involve replacing springs and cleaning the gunk out of them.

Ok here's some more information that I confirmed. Sega (and Buckley apparently) took perfectly good Mills escalators and added "crap" of their own, supposedly to make improvements although my Mills escalators work just fine after rebuilding.
Here's a comparison shot of the Sega and Mills escalator that I got, created by my friend Monti.  I doubt you will find that part. You may have to repair it, or switch out parts with Mills which I think would work.  Or you can find a Mills escalator and keep yours for future parts. When owning mechanical slots, sometimes being creative can result in a working part, without having to put too much $$$ out, but this escalator isn't difficult to find.
I've contacted Dave Berten. He's THE man for parts but his website has been down for months. He's still selling on eBay but not listing all his stuff. I have another source I'll check in with and see if he's got parts as well.
Hope his all helps so far!

Ok I found a parts source! I contacted Dave Berten to confirm and he replied back today. His web site is still down, but send him an e mail at:
mrslot1@aol.com
In the E mail include a photo of that part as well as the entire escalator. He gets very busy and handles everything so give him some time to reply.
But let us know here what's happening soon as you hear from him or when you get your machine up and running.

Luckily I had one of these. Mine was similar but had the "skill stop" buttons on it. And mine didn't have an escalator, just a coin mech. But my Mills Black Cherry does have an escalator that somewhat resembled this one. So I guess it helps to have had (still have the Black Cherry of course) enough machines to recognize this stuff. And it REALLY helps having friends that like to make comparison diagrams.  :applause:
Looking forward to seeing his up and running.

Thanks guys.  He had the correct escalator wrong denomination.  He is keeping an eye out but not in stock.  If anyone else has a similar escalator or coin advance please let me know.  We are very close but I need one for a .25 quarter machine.

Did you want to replace the entire escalator with a Mills style? Did Dave say anything on that one part?
