3502 Game King 3.0 Privileged Options key
« on: March 15, 2021, 02:15:27 PM »
Hi everyone! New goodies, new problems!

I got the Game King 3.0 software (G0000124) that includes games like Face Up Blackjack, Triple Diamond slots, Super Sevens slots, and Wild Ball Keno.

I also have a 3502 MPU and the security key for the front of the MPU that's supposed to access the Privileged Options button on the setup menu. The All Events Log acknowledges that I'm turning the key.

Here's a problem that seemed to resolve itself, and I hope this information might help others one day: At first, the Attendant menu didn't include a button for Accounting information, nor was there a Setup option for basic things like the Real Time Clock.

In the photo, there are credits on the machine, but I tried setting it up with no credits. (Key chip #17 does not work; an EEPROM error occurs upon restart.)

I finally was able to access the other menus — see the next post for details.

After trying the MPU security key, and not seeing anything different, I had the bright idea of "hey, what if the security key is on when the front door is closed?"

That might not have had anything to do with it, but when I turned the machine on, the deal button was blinking, even though I didn't have any credits on the machine, and I had the option to Spin. So I did! No winning combo.

But when I opened the door, I amazingly saw the buttons for Accounting and Setup!

So I started the normal process:
With the security key in the Off (vertical) position, press the front MPU button. Turn the security key to On (clockwise to horizontal position). Press the Setup button —voila — the Privileged Options menu appears!!!

I'll poke around some more and post my findings. Thanks so much to our helpful NLG vendors!

Here are some more pics from Tournament Mode.

(Thanks to the helpful moderator for fixing the rotated pics.)

Key chip #00005 doesn't seem to work on Game King 3.x — here are the screens upon restart.
Is that known behavior?

Nobody has the mythical Key 00001, I suppose?

Key chip 16 also does not work. Same screen as key chip 5.

"A system error occurred."

I have attempted what "4 Deuces" Dave wanted to try about 7 years ago — using KEY00002 on Game King 3.0:

http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=27667.0

The result: unsuccessful.

I've now tried Key 2, 5, 16, 17, and 22.

Unless someone unearths the mythical KEY00001, I suppose I'll never be able to play Face Up Blackjack on my IGT machine.

I got Key 1, it works, and Face Up Blackjack is quite fun!!!

To clear up my rambling earlier in this thread:

This version has a quirk: Usually if you've been playing 3 credits and you have only 2 left, you can't press Deal/Spin. But this Game King 3.0 software plays the 2 credits and waits for you to do something else. I presume this is from the coin-dropper era in which you could add another coin and play the full 3 credits.

So when I was playing off the credits, I probably wasn't looking at how many credits remained, pressed Spin, nothing happened, so I figured it was at 0 credits. But there were still credits on the machine, so that's why the Attendant Menu didn't let me access options like setting the clock.
