Bally 6000 board problem....always says 65 Meter disconnect
« on: November 16, 2021, 06:47:38 PM »
im sure its the board as the problem follows the board not the game. I can put a different board in the problem game & the 65 goes away so im SURE its the board. Can anyone tell me what chip or chips would be responsible for this error? I changed a few of the larger ones out figuring they were similar to PIA chips but no change. I only have 2 bally machines to fix & down to all problematic boards & would really like to get this one going.

Please let me know if you know where I should be looking on this MPU.

thanks!

Greg

I haven't done much work on the Bally 6000 at all. But here is the meter detect circuit from the prints. U14, RP6 and RP1 are about it - if? this is for your MPU board.

If U14 is bad - I would think the other switches would be problems also. Could be a bad resistor pack ( RP6 or RP1 ) I've seen bad ones, usually a crack, but rare. You can ohm out the signals from the MPU connector to and through the resistors.

PM me if you need more direction.
Tony

You can fix almost any electronic device by replacing the aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

THANKS so much for the reply & the response. I will give it a try today! The attachment you have looks like its for a video poker board, I assume that circuit is the same?

I will let you know the progress after I go to the shop today!

Hello,

Can you post a pic of the DS2 and DS3 micro switch ?

Other wise :
DS3 => put all the micro switches to ON then perform a ram clear.

The electromechanical meters are disconnected from the machine (Market Codes 3, 4, 12, 28, and 29).

I did & tried everything suggested to no avail.... I ended up moving on to other problem boards & one of the boards that had no display & replaced the two 6522 chips & it fired up.....

got the machine working but still have this board with the same problem. I have ONE MORE bally 600 to do, I'll probably try to fix a different board when that time comes. Right now working on some Williams 550 machines...

thanks for the help & suggestion guys, much appreciated.
