Battery Replacement On IGT S +- Is This Normal?
« on: September 04, 2021, 11:34:20 AM »
I had a person that I found on Craigslist who says they have been working on slot machines for over 35 years. I went to their house and they looked at my slot machine and noticed that the battery wasn't holding voltage and was bad. They did not have a battery available so they soldered three I believe AAA batteries together or AA batteries together and said this is just fine and it has the correct voltage and that a lot of people do this as opposed to installing the 3.6 lithium battery. I am concerned that they said it's a little over 3.6 volts but that it won't hurt anything and will last up to about 5 years. Is this something that others do and if so will it be fine? I have included an image. Thanks  :thank_you:

It's OK. People that don't solder find it works for them. Easy replacement later.
I prefer soldering a new one in, but I repair stuff so no problem for me.

3.6V button battery,  1.5V each per aa or aaa, so 3.0V or 4.5V should be good. It's for the ram chips that normally run on 5V.

The right battery can picked up at battery stores or online shipping ground with a bunch of paperwork.

You can fix almost any electronic device by replacing the aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

Thanks for that information. I will definitely change it out later, but just good to know that it won't hurt anything. :cool_thumb_up:
