If you have 2 boards with different games, would the s2000 boot up without having to clear ram if they were swapped in between boots?

yes I swap SBs all the time, never clear.  Do not change vs or sg's you may need to clear or key.

You just want to swap the SB chip on the machine's board.
If you swap the entire board even with the same SG,VS on them you would have to re-set up.

Lets say I get a board and fully set it up.  Then I get another board and fully set that up.  If I put back in the 1st board, would it have to be set up again? or is all the info saved on the board?

I disagree with that.  If you swap a MPU with different SB's but the same SG and VS chips you'll only lose your credits and maybe enhanced sound settings after going through the RAM error and processor board ID mismatch errors.  I do it frequently when troubleshooting 50X series MPUs.  The rest of the information is pulled from the EEPROM on the motherboard.

Every single time you swap SB's you will have to do the normal 4x jp key flick then test button, close door, then re-setup sound.  When you swap boards also you add another key swipe to the mix.

Ok so board A is running in the machine and you put board B in it.   If you have the same SG and VS chips on board A as board B then you'll lose your credits and maybe sound settings.  The machine is going to clear the RAM when you go through the bootup errors (processor ID mismatch and one other I can't think of off the top of my head right now).  Turning the reset key and pressing and holding the MPU self test button will clear those errors and the rest of the machine setup information will be pulled from the EEPROM on the motherboard.  If the SG and VS chips on board A are different then board B then you'll also get an EEPROM error message and it will clear the EEPROM too when you do the hold and press routine.  In that case you'll have to use a keychip set everything up from scratch.
