Bally 1115-23 Slot Mixed Relays
« on: December 04, 2021, 03:50:41 PM »
Good Day, I have a Bally that has several enclosed relays. The slot does not work and some relays coils are AC and some are DC. 48 volts. The slot does not work. Discovered this when testing the coils.

thanks for any comments on the correct relays AC or DC.

both types or relays is right if you have a version with left-right pay.  Due to the complex pays, the payout circuits are DC and a lot of diodes are used.

you can find a few 1115 schematics on https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/

at the moment they are all in one 1115-redo folder, and the 1115-14 is a left-right pay version.

I don't know if I have info for the 1115-23 as my list ended at 1115-1.   If you have a chance to email highest possible resolution pics to slotpics@cdyn.com. I'll add them to the not really a web site yet.  Pic of entire front of game and as many inside shots as you'd like.

a pic of the payout counter showing the M-645-xxx number and any codes stamped into the slotted reel index discs can help match your pieces to other versions of the game.  You can also compare to the files in the above folder.

Hi and thank you for your response. OK, yes I see there are diode boards associated with all 3 reels. There is a set of 5 relays mounted at the back right side of the reel mech and the 2 on the left of the set are A.C. coil relays and the 3 to the right of those are all D.C. coil relays. Also the other 5 relays, 2 on the hopper assembly and 3 on the coin unit assembly, are all D.C. coils. What would be the reason that the 2 relays would be A.C. coil relays or did someone make a mistake using the wrong relays. I will send you the photos that you asked me to send later today or tomorrow.

Attached is the relay stack on the reel mech. left 2 AC right 3 DC This is a right/left pay slot. Where can I buy these D.C. relays.

Thanks again

you may still be ok.  Do you have label(s) near the relays saying what their function is?

since your machine is a lowboy, there can be stuff on the reel mech that's not in the payout circuits.

KLAR has the relays - https://www.slotmachinerepair.com/relays ... shipping will be a factor, so google the part numbers to see if someone is selling locally on ebay or whatever.

I think the relay form factor is standard, so other manufacturers probably make something plug-in compatible.  The trick is getting all the specs for your parts and matching them up.  Besides the coil activation voltage, the contacts are rated for an amount of current.

what is actually wrong with your game?  For a lot of the relays, they wouldn't make the machine not work, they'd just make certain pays not work.

Hi, it is working as far as dropping a coin in and mech spins but when it hits any payout the hopper does not run. The payout disc on the hopper and the payout unit have been cleaned and checked and are resetting to the zero point if I advance by hand, the hopper motor has been tested and is working based on hand operating the payout relay. Checked the diodes on all 3 boards located at each reel. No power to the payout relay when a winning combination is hit (i had a meter connected to the coil leads). Checked all the switches on the left side of the mech and the relay and all seem to be set correctly.

When you put a coin or coins in it accepts them and the coin unit advances properly put the handle and the reels spin normally so it seems to be I am missing something power wise from the mech to the payout relay. So I must be missing something. There are NO labels in any of the relays except the Coin Lockout and Level Relays in the door.

thanks

using the 1115-14 schem as a reference, check the DC voltage on the outputs of the bridge rectifier.  If that looks ok (something 50V-ish), then to trace a payout you'd keep one probe on wire 81-10 and poke the other probe along the payout circuit path thru the reel wipers.

if the bridge output is way below 50V, then see what the input voltage is.  That should be 50VAC.

I don't know if the machine has a bridge rectifier or 4 diodes, but the 10uFd capacitor and fuse should be nearby.

with no labels, the easiest way to identify the relays is the wire colors on the relay coils.  Each relay should have a diagram showing the pinout.

yell if that doesn't make sense.

you can email pics to slotpics@cdyn.com and I'll add them to the site.
