okay...an SP1271 only works on a 10Mhz MPU board.
That would be an MPU board that has the blue volume dial.

I'm attaching a PSR sheet for you.
I'm sure you'll find your answer in there.

Yeah, bunker got that wrong.  SP1271 is for 10MHz boards, not 16Mhz.  As far as I know the only reel stop sound a S+ makes is the clicking of the handle solenoid, but the PSR does mention reel spin and stop sounds.  Give it a try and see what happens.  I think the stop sound will be the solenoid when on, and no sound when off.

From the PSR for SP1271...>>>

Reel-Spin Sound <0> [2]   Options are reel-spin tones and reel-stop sounds {0} or reel-spin tones only {1}.

Yeah...the PSR says the SP1271 ONLY works with a 10Mhz MPU WITH the blue volume dial...I get that mixed up sometimes...haha

Hmm? The PSR says that you should get both sounds if you set it to zero.

Try an SP731 or SP809 GAME prom, if you have available?

Looks like it only does one or the other. When I set to 0 the reel spin sound is gone and reel stop sound works

The only options ever are one or the other. The tone generator chip in the machine is not capable of creating the reel stop sound while simultaneously playing the reel spin music, so the choices are one or the other.

When reel spin sounds (music) are selected, the machine should fire the pull handle solenoid each time a reel stops so you will get a sound for each reel stopping (just not from the speaker) while the reel spin sounds play.

If your handle solenoid is disconnected or broken, it obviously won't be able to make that noise. If you want to get a clicking noise for each reel stopping while also having reel spin sounds/music, you'll need to ensure your handle solenoid is working properly.
