Konami Confusion!!!
« on: September 15, 2023, 07:01:56 PM »
Hello All, I have this machine and I’m confused as to what I have here, The plaque is missing. I posted this on the Konami “SLOT REELS” menu, and today I’m reading threads that relate to my issues on the Konami “VIDEO” menu. The machine appears to have been in the Cash out mode, and it’s locked up. If I turn the reset  key to reset, It displays “please wait” and for a split second the “Insert bills” lights green then goes off. Music continues to play as well.

After reading and comparing this machine to my other one, the Front of the machine looks like my advantage machine. What I thought was a battery holder is where the EL key goes. Whole New ball game, Can Anyone tell me what the model/type of machine I have so I can research the correct one.

Also Any advice/knowledge on what “EL” key” I need to get, Maybe even where to get it?
Thank You All.

They don't exist, the batteries died on every one of them years ago.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Ok Thank You for responding. On this machine the batteries were still good. Someone added a “AA” 3.6 lithium in parallel with each of the three coin batteries. They must have known something.
Do You happen to know what the model name is of this machine?

As long as the battery circuit does not fail and voltage is not disconnected for even a brief amount of time the special fob is not needed.
If you parallel a fresh battery across a mostly depleted one and leave them connected the depleted battery will overheat internally.
The depleted battery needs to be cut out of the circuit as soon as possible and let the fresh battery take over.
If the depleted battery's voltage gets below an unknown low voltage threshold could corrupt the memory so set a voltage of 1 volt as the lower limit.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

I agree with that. The former owner has a calendar taped on the side to remind him to jumper coin batteries and replace. They are 3.11-3.17 volts right now. The display shows a large win and what I’m thinking is a “CALL ATTENDANT” payout. It’s also showing existing credits to play as if the last time it worked the mac. I’ve tried reset key, wren went to diagnostics and tried setting the date, as I was reading another person did. The machine is immaculate, hate to throw it in the slant-top dump pile. Looks like a fun machine.

It's an early Konami Advantage, and what Badbaud meant by "They don't exist, the batteries went dead several years ago", he was referring to the EL Keys for those older machines. The EL Keys all had batteries in them, which would allow access to the menus and perform Keychip features such as RAM Clear and set up.

The newer Advantage machines use CF Cards instead of the ELs. They're much easier to work on.

Without being able to access the Attendant Menu, you won't be able to clear the Hand Pay, if that's what it actually is. I've never received a Hand Pay Jackpot, so I'm not exactly sure how to clear one on the Advantage machines.

It may be possible to swap your Software Chips over to a newer K2V MPU that uses the CF, but I'm not 100% sure that the 2 are interchangeable. Hopefully an expert will chime in and let you know more about what options are available to get your machine playing again.
