Its been an interesting journey for someone who doesn't routinely work on slots..
It came to me powering up and giving code E49
Unable to calibrate reels
The visual check showed C81,84,85,73,76,82 and 89 all burnt.
Two of the optic sensors not functioning
Replace all 3 with opb5897. ( OPB5897 datasheet lists the distance for the sensor at .15 inches - Use a m3 nut as your spacer (see pic)
thread it on a long m3 bolt and the width of the nut resting on the reel strip to the sensor is perfect)
Replaced the crispy capacitors - checked the surrounding components and fired it up
Started getting E71 Reel moved
The motor and the top and bottom guide wheels have (Or are supposed to have oRings on them.
I replaced all of them (Some were cracked some missing )
I used a #14 Oring on the 6 guide reels and two # 52 rings on the motor drive wheel:
#14 = Danco 35731B
#52 = Danco 35766B
This is where it got weird
Now I get Error
E48 5
Research that and assume the 5 is saying reel 5 but its a 3 reel game.
Didn't understand that and trying to find software #s and reel ID numbers failed.
Decided to pull it all apart again
I notice the orings I put on the drive pully were slightly off to the side.
(See pics)
Adjusted them so they were straight by pushing the motor to the right in its bracket.
That cleared the 5 reel error on a 3 reel game - still don't get it but it worked in case someone else gets the same error - check those orings...
Im still getting intermittent E48-d- ( i swapped the motor assemblies 2 and 3 and it stays erroring on reel 2 so Im assuming i will need to clean the strips and really take a close look at the reflective strips. It happens about 1 every 4 game cycles.
Hopefully the info helps if anyone else runs across one.
