Building My Own
« on: August 01, 2024, 06:46:58 PM »
Hi folks I know this has been posted on years ago but I have some specific questions that may have more modern answers

I picked up this pile of rubbish below in the picture.. an old BB1    it had working PSU even started to boot.
my goal is to toss in 2 22" monitors from BB2 and a BB2 brainbox and amp.  i have procured all the parts needed

my first question the monitor cables as the 22" have the dual power and rs232 the old machine had the classic 10 pin.  the monitors I have came with the cables but the plug ends are vastly different.  can that  10 pin be rewired?   I have the schematic from the bb1 so perhaps I can follow that but any tips and tricks to save me burning something out would be great.  pictures of monitors and connectors below.. I am not too concerned with the 12 volt power its getting the rs232 wired up to the old 10 pin correctly.

Any other tips comments or suggestions will be great!  i saw the old posts from 2014 where they used L brackets to mount the monitors and I plan to employ that..   and I saw how they made bottom brackets and ill come close on that.

it says on the back on a paper that it had a single 22" monitor???  i didn't know 22" ever came with 10 pin?    perhaps that explains the phone tap connectors on the 10 pin?   i certainly wouldn't use those on braided wire over like that buuuut if it worked i guess..

anyway pics below

Here's the pinout to connect backplane touch to bb2 touch.

So you need one from the backplane to the monitor?  Here's the pinout. Backplane first, 6 pin micro molex second column.

Pin 1 to 1
Pin 2 to 2
Pin 3 to 3
Pin 4 to 4
pin 10 to 6 <=this is ground
