Draw Poker Machine Question
« on: December 17, 2024, 10:43:36 AM »
I recently acquired a IGT draw poker machine and I think it is a Fortune 1 machine built in 1981 (I have included a picture). My question is, when you draw a winning hand, it pays in coins and also adds the same amount in credit to the machine. In other words, if you win a hand and it drops 10 coins, it also adds 10 credits so you are double paid. How do you change that so it just pays in coin?

That's indeed a Fortune one.
Can you start with zero credits on the machine and play until you win. Then after it drops the coins during the win, see if you can cash out and get the same amount in the hopper.

We need to see a picture of the board. I don’t recall but there might be jumpers for retain credit and not. Maybe two jumpers are set making it do both.

Here are pictures of the board from my machine. I don't see any dipswitches to make changes. Is there a way or menu to access to reset the game? There is two red push buttons in the back of the case near the motherboard, what are they for?

Definitely F1.
We need Badbaud to weigh in here.
Those large capacitors definitely need to be checked. I doubt they will cause anomalies like you are experiencing though.

I would carefully lift and re-seat the ICs and eeproms that are in sockets. Carefully pry them up from each side and press them back in.

Is there a setup menu on these machines that I can also check? What are the two red buttons in the back of the machine used for? It is running great other than the credit/coin issue.

I don’t think F1s had setup, I think there were just options with the matching of game proms. The red buttons are resets if I recall. One might initiate degauss on the monitor.

One button is used for a game reset and the other is used for meter readings for the casino.

On a Fortune 1 you get the game software and nothing else.
It is either credit or no credit, the credit game has more buttons on the front switch panel.
Bet 1, Bet  max, and cashout.
There is only one setup option on some games and that is the denomination that can be set via the DIP socket below the 7407 video chip.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.
