Double Diamond giving credit problems
« on: March 03, 2016, 08:35:06 AM »
When I get the game into game mode, the winner paid and credits LEDs do not show anything. But the LEDs do work in audit mode. I put quarters into the machine, and it does play. But when it hits on something, the game stops, top and bottom candle lights both flash and the sound keeps ringing, but no hopper pays out and no credits show adding up. I'm wondering if the game is in some sort of tournament mode or the hopper is turned off in the settings. Any idea how to get this game back to "normal"? I downloaded a service manual and am reading it, but sort of confusing. I was wondering how to get it into a diagnostic mode and test the hopper.

Thanks in advance,
Alan

You can post a photo of the mpu board showing the socketed game chips, the folks here can id the software and tell you if you have tournament software or normal software in the machine.

There may be some settings that are causing the machine to act this way, like maybe it is set to handpay on every win or it tries to payout and the hopper is empty or disabled.

Are there any error codes displayed on the machine when this happens? Was the machine working ok at one time then this started happening, or is the machine new to you and was like this when you got it?

The game is new to me. Pretty beat up but workable. I would like to think it is probably a setting. I would like to know how to change it, here is a link to the mother board photo.

There are no labels on your game or reel eprom, impossible to tell by pictures.  Follow this procedure and posts your results.  If a PSR is available for your game prom, I will post it here and you can see how to test various aspects of your machine.

you probably have to set the hopper settings in the diagnostics.  it would help to know the chip numbers, the picture doesn't  show them.  you get into the test mode or diagnostics  by pressing the white test button near the on/off switch or on the front of the card cage, depends on what type machine you have.    press it until you get to a 4 in the coins played window,  there should be two numbers appear, one is the game chip and the other is the SP chip.  then continue pressing the button, and scroll down till a 7 is in the CP window, this is the setting that we need to know.
there is a lot of information on the home page  right hand side on S+ set up and Rick's FAQ, I would look at these and read through them and it should give you a better understanding of your game.

Hope this helps

Jim
