I guess a history lesson is appropriate here.  The S+ is the previous generation to the S2000.  Anytime a new slot theme or game is introduced into a jurisdiction, it must be approved by that jurisdiction, which can be a lengthy process.  In order to be able to introduce new hardware into the market, sometimes manufacturers will use already approved software.  This is the case with the Base chip you have along with the SS chip.  Since the SS chip already had jurisdictional approval, it made sense for IGT to just introduce a chip for the S2000 that would allow the use of existing software.  As S2000 native titles were released and approved, they no longer needed to use old software, plus the casinos really want newer games in order to keep people coming to the casinos.  So in a nutshell.  The SB01000 chip you have, is missing the data (paytables and virtual reel strip information) that a native SB chip has.  So when you install a native s2000 kit, you will have on your board the pair of SG chips, the version chip, and the Base chip.  You will no longer need the SS chip, since the standard SB chips already have the paytable and virtual reel strip information on the chip already, in fact it has more than one typically as you will be able to choose between different payback percentages, which is something that cannot be done with the SB01000 + SS chip combo, as changing percentages on that setup requires a different SS chip.

For example, to change your game a 3 coin I Dream of Jeannie game you will remove the SB001000 base chip and the SS chip, and will replace only the SB chip with SB100038.  You will also need a multi-media lite board which lets you put a sound simm for the enhanced sounds on that game.  If you don't have the multi-media lite board, the game will still play, it will just sound like the slot you have now.  With the sound simm and multi-media lite board, you will hear the theme music as you spin the reels and jeannie will say a few things during certain pays.  It is worthwhile and not that expensive to get a multi-media lite board (around $25 or so).  When you buy an S2000 kit that uses a sound simm, it typically comes with the glass, strips, base chip, and sound simm.

OKAY.... So I didn't know that S+ is older.. Why is it on this link: http://www.newlifegames.net/igtbible/IGT%205CM/Game%20Library%20-%20S-Plus.htm    that all of the slots listed in every category give a Prog# with SS chip numbers? Is it because all of these games are S+ games?  Also, is SB001000 ONLY for Cartoon Wild Cherry? Each and every game has it's OWN SB Chip, is that correct? If the answer is YES, I will finally understand this.    Also in regards to what I asked, the Version chip, and two SG chips I'm getting, by swapping that out and leaving the CURRENT SS Chip and SB chip, the game will still play the same and I won't have to edit any settings, correct?    When I go to buy my new kit, all I have to do is swap out the Base chip and the machine will now play the reels as if it were that game?  Do you often have to change any settings in the settings menu when you swap out games. Also does the KEY chip allow me to be able to set the denomination of the game, Example going from .25 cents to a $1.00 game?  Also, how do I find out if my machine already has a multimedia board installed in it?

Also, I found this machine online that I really want, and the gentleman is willing to part it out for me... If I bought all of the chips from him, glass, and reel strips, would this work for my machine? They are the same exact shape.

The SB001000 is only used if you  are using the older S+ SS reel chip.  The newer S2000 will use a dedicated SB chip for each game.

As far as the game pictured, it is an s2000 game, but his top is a 16" top, your machine has a 9" top, so you will need an award glass that is 9" tall (also known as chop tops).  If you really want that kit, you can have the guy send you the 16" top box along with your kit, and then you could replace your topbox with that one.  But it will cost you an arm and a leg to have it shipped.

I finally found the game I want. I went ahead and ordered the kit, online. It comes with the glass, belly glass, reel strips, sound simm, multimedia board, and the SS chip... apparently my SB 1000 chip is just fine with this game.   I also ordered some better GME 1&2 chips numbers 363, better version chip, and a Key 45, and a IVC Clear Ram chip. I should be good to go!  The game I ordered is the following.

Double Double Dollars 3CM, 3 Reel, S+ Game
Slots, Poker, Whiskey, Trains.... Those are the only things I can't do without. Well, of course my family, too.

FYI, this game is a clone of Double Double Diamond, just different graphics.

Interesting.... well, why is it that my SB 1000 chip is compatible with this game?  Apparently all I need is the SS chip it is coming with, and of course key chips and all that... but is it really just the SS chip that changes it??

Because it's also an S+ game.  And yes, after the glass and strips, the only thing you need to change is the SS chip.  There is a native S2000 base chip for this game.  It's SB100196.  I would ask the seller if he has that base chip, it would allow you to change the percentages on the game. An SS chip will only have the percentage associated with it.
