Mk6 backplane- Oz vs US?
« on: August 22, 2020, 12:23:51 AM »
does anyone have any pictures or schematics showing the difference between the Oz and US Mk6 excite backplanes and their connectors? I have seen US version ones but am looking to see the difference with the one found in Oz machines.

I should put this in context. I have an upgrade backplane but have sources a players choice MK6 game that requires two monitors and the current backplane only has a spot for a single monitor.

You probably already know you need a second video card, so I am assuming you already have this, then to bypass 'top screen disconnected' lockup you only need to connect the 2 pins for this then the game will play.

[On P27 on Backplane] (based on world/au versions. The actual MK6 boards are all universal so could figure this out on the board directly too, if its a typical US one)
Join Pins 9 & 10

If you really want the second screen to display, you can actually trace the second video signal on the backplane manually or on the actual board, many years ago I soldered it on directly to the backplane, it's basic VGA signal. I didn't use a manual just figured it out on the board directly first by finding what pins were open and closed when video board is connected or not, your meter is a friend here ;)  (just table obviously not plugged in or powered), you'll find them near video 1, then along a bit, once you find h/v/sync and r,g,b + GND pretty quick, using a meter you can match from video 1 the synks, then you can just guess/trial error the colours until they are correct. I don't have a manual handy sorry, but someone might PM you here.
