Coin-Out Jam on hooper-less I dream of Jeannie
« on: October 28, 2021, 02:10:03 PM »
Newbie here and I've searched messages board, watched videos, scoured the internet and even emailed IGT before finally asking my question.

After replacing the battery on our I Dream of Jeannie, restarting, updating settings, we finally got it operational. Unfortunately I didn't (know to) double check the payout and that the hopper was disabled.

It automatically tried to payout a win. It's never had a hopper the 10 years we've had it and now I can't clear the error. I tried going to the main operator menu but only get an abbreviated one. Help????

If you put a removable battery in it take it out and put it back in.  That will clear the RAM memory.  When it boots up follow the onscreen directions to clear the RAM error message.  You'll need a keychip to disable the hopper so that it doesn't happen again.

Thanks. How do I know which keychip to get? (I'm tech illiterate.)
This is the board:

Send a PM to member RB.  He'll get you the right one.

Since your battery is soldered in you can't pop it out to clear the RAM.  If you want to get it running before you get a keychip you'll have to pull one of the static RAM chips out and plug it back in.  They're the two black chips next to the SIMM card connector.  Pop either one out and plug it back in.  Make sure you put back in with the notch pointed the right way and don't bend any pins.  When it boots back up turn the reset key a few times when the RAM error message appears on the screen and follow the directions.
