Igt s2000 vision LCD not working
« on: December 29, 2021, 10:27:49 PM »
Hello,
I have an igt s2000 vision, top box is currently off or doesn’t light up.  Game I have is rwb single line “igt s plus chip” & it’s getting boring. I’m planning on buying/changing games to use an actual vision game. But first I want to know if the top box LCD is currently working. Game boots up and all, the screen just doesn’t turn on at all. I’ve checked the topbox fan and it’s currently working, I checked the topbox board battery and it was dead. Replaced it and still nothing. I read on a different post to check fuse on the inverter or to use a jumper on J1… How can I check the fuse and what does the jumper look like. Thanks

use a flashlight and look and see if you can see words on the screen when booting. They will be in the lower left corner. If it has power to it and the fan running it should say something if working even if it is not in use. Then that will narrow down whats going on

Since it has words and no backlight it is most likely the inverter. Jim (Elvis) may be able to help you with the part number. I know it is located somewhere on this board in one of the posts

Yeah I see it says “good luck” since I’m not playing a vision game. But thank you very much I’ll get with him soon

Usually it's a blown fuse [F1] on the LS520 Inverter Board.

Here's an ebay link for a replacement Vision LCD ballast like the one I pictured below....>>>

I don't think that reel chip is supposed to be in there and it even looks to be in the socket backwards!!Take it out.
If it HAS to be in there, the notch on the top of the chip body must be facing in the same direction as all the other chips on the LCD board.

Your SB00022 chip should handle the game really.

Oh my bad I placed it backwards after removing it to check if it needed the chip but I’m still getting the same error “call attended” “door open M” “ bonus game not supported”. I don’t know what the “door open M” error is I had swapped back to the original game I had and works perfect so it can’t be the door.

Ok first of all there are many things that are needed for a game to work. These were secure machines on a casino floor that were regulated by a state gaming commission. If 1 thing is not right, you get the errors that you are seeing. I would suggest that you go through this forum and read the post about Vision games and S2000 and what the chips are/for so you can learn them. Yes most things are plug and play but if 1 thing is incorrect or out of place then this happens.

Vision games require a SB(stepperbase) and a SG(steppergame) on the MPU.  Most (if not all) DO NOT REQUIRE THE SS chip that you have backwards. The ss chip was used in the case like you had. If the casino wanted a S+ game to work on the machine, they would use the old S+ game and insert a SS chip and you would get the generic message on the topbox LCD (Good Luck) True Vision games only require a SB and SG chip as well as the correct BGM in the top box. (We will get into BGM files on the top box in a moment. Some did also have a CD-Rom on the more specific games)

In your case you have SB000022, Bonus Spin RWB. You also need to change the Steppergame 1 and 2 to least SG000241. SG000241 was updated to SG000341 or SG000380 depending if the game was single demom or multi demom because of an error in progamming that we will never see in home play. So you can run just about all of the older vision games with SG000241. You will NOT need the SS chip that was in your old game.

For the topbox you notice there are 2 cards inside the LCD monitor. Those are the BGM (Bonus Game Media) The BGM are numbered to match the Stepperbase files(SB) If the BGM and the SB chip does not match you will recieve the message Bonus Game Not Supported. This is a mismatch error.  Many things must be correct for the topbox files starting with the RFA. RFA is an update to the monitor. The monitor runs on an old verison of Windows, Windows CE. If I see your BGM card correctly it has ATA 1.0065 (the latest) on the BGM (It's hard to see the picture that you posted.) If it has ATA 1.0065 on that card then the monitor has already been updated to RFA1.0025 (the latest)

Your monitor has 2 cards installed. Only 1 card is needed. The casinos ususally put a second card in the monitor for advertisement media. I don't know what is on your cards.

The file system for the BGM to work properly must contain certain data, The BGM of the game itself you will need BGM00011, The generic BGM 000000 (This allowed the machine to run with a S+ chip and you get the generic message Good Luck or to run a progressive on the machine's LCD, the ATA file 1.0065 (The "DATA" directory was not needed after ATA 1.0065 update.)

So as you can see there are many parts that make this game work. Don't ruin your board just sticking chips on there backwards because these MPUs are hard to find and can cost a lot of money now.  Can you take the cards out of your monitor, while the machine is off, there is a slot on the top and side of your monitor and you will see 2 levers beside each card. Push down on both levers and the cards will come out. Take a picture of what the cards are labeled and post them.

All I am saying is learn your machine before something gets damaged and you cannot fix it. Vision machines are going on 20-25 years old. The parts are getting harder and harder to find.

The Version Chip on the MPU and the VFD chip on the door are also important so if you can post those also.

Thank you very much for so much information, I don’t know much of these vision machines. When I purchased the SB chip from an “eBay seller” he told me that’s all I needed to run that game with the chips I have on my mpu. So I greatly appreciate your knowledge.  Here are some pictures of the BGM card, casino card,VFD chip and version chip. Thanks Again I appreciate your help

You have multiple BGM game files installed on the PCMCIA card including the ATA55 file.

BGM00000 Generic BGM file
BGM00001 Temperature's Rising
BGM00005 Mystery Pay
BGM00009 Door Prize
BGM00010 Money Factory
BGM00055 Times Pay

I always thought BGM00011 was for the RW&B Bonus Spin?
I don't see it on the labels of your card....it could be the reason why you're getting the [Bonus Game Not Supported] message.
Maybe Chris has a better list than I have?

I believe you are correct BGM00011 is red white & blue bonus wheel. So I would have to purchase a new card for that game. Would you by any chance know of anyone that might have BGM cards for sale?

OK so you are confusing 2 different games. There is a BONUS WHEEL and There is a BONUS SPIN.  SB000022 is for a Wild Star RWB Bonus SPIN. That is different than a bonus wheel game.

What stips did you buy? Take a picture of the strips please

Here is the different games. The strips either have a "BONUS SPIN" on them with the Wild Star, or have nothing on them and when you hit say double bar you play the bonus wheel game

I inherited from my grandmother. She bought it in a auction back in the day, not working. I got the old game to work. But my goal is to have it fully functional.

PERFECT!

Ok so you need the following

MPU
SB000022
SG 1 & 2 SG000248
VFD00007
Version 9 is fine

TOP BOX CARD
BGM00011
BGM00000
ATA1.0065

I think the RFA should be fine. Hopefully it is already updated to RFA1.0025.

Where are you located I may be able to help you out
