in reply #8, I asked you to check the handle solenoid , two connectors on the back of the solenoid face the back cabinet wall, a coin can be lodged between the wall and connectors, have seen it many times, PLEASE CHECK THAT AREA!!!

Jim, as this is surgery on my first machine, I think that I should be looking above, facing to the back, and behind the lever on the right side.  Is this correct?

You don't need to see really.

There's two wires that go onto two tabs for the solenoid.

You can just follow the wires to the connector tabs with your fingers and feel for any loose coins.

Also check those wires to ensure they're connected properly and not shorting out.  :cool_thumb_up:

I'm glad you're enjoying this...but we wanted to see the circuit traces on TOP of the board near the power connector.  :duh:  :rotfl:

One more ?  I can only locally find 8A fast blow 1/4 x 1 1/4 on 250v.  That should work for this purpose shouldn't it.

When this has happened to me....... I found the coins under the mother board (fixed board which I think you have just removed).....

I had a coin loose on the MPU board - although this did not appear to short anything out.
There is also a brown or green sheet that is often under the MPU board between the board and the tray - not really necessary but coins have been known to get in there.

Did one perhaps get into the power supply itself ?

I have removed the motherboard and back plane.  I have not removed the power supply, but have inspected it as much as I can.  What does it take to rempve the bottom tray that holds the power supply, back plane/mother board, coin despenser?  O can only see 3 phillips heads, will that do the trick?

The Hopper (Coin Dispenser ??) just pulls out - you can leave that out of the machine until this is resolved.
The MPU - silver tray, black knobbed handle just pulls straight up and you can remove the MPU and tray.
The above two require no tools.

The motherboard is fixed board held in by plastic offsets - explained earlier in this thread by others ..... ??
Typically I just sweep under this using a wooden pencil

With the hopper and the MPU removed do you blow any fuses ?
If the answer is yes then the problem is not related to the MPU or the Hopper.

To remove the MPU from the tray - you simply unplug the transformer which is connected via molex and remove the 3-4 screws.

Simply?  Ha!  I but the bullet and yanked everything from the bottom plate up and lo and behold, I found another 35 tokens in every place the eyes coulds't see (mostly under and behind the tray that has the transformer).  I am out of 8a fuses but will get some in the morning.  Thanks, much appreciated, and keep your fingers crossed.

DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING!  Big thanks to all, but I am not done yet. Up and playing with button harness disconnected. Put in new fuse and disconnected every plug that I could and carefully added them back one at a time til the fuse blew.  The button circuit has the short.  Where can I find a tested S+2000 set of 5 buttons and a tested harness.  Should I start a new thread?  Thanks again for your support, these machines really aren't too complicated after all.

I have my eye on a PE+ slant top 50cent video poker machine (monitor non working plus whatever).

2 ?'s  can this be upgraded to touchscreen, and how available are multi game chips?

  Thanks again.

Look to see if buttons are wired correct at buttons. PE+ can not be upgraded to touchscreen. Need superboard for multi.
