Looking to get started with ArgOS? Hopefully this information will help.
These notes mostly apply to WMS only, not Bally Alpha
The ArgOS OS looks like they are using Microsoft Windows Container technology (like docker) where they have broken up components into separate containers and running those containers to make a complete system. Pretty cool because the image files are virtual hard disks files that can be mounted in Windows Disk Manager. (change the file extension from IMG to VHD) and you can browse the file systems. My lack of container experience..
Big important note here, it seems that ArgOS looks at the date and timestamp of the "IMG" file(s), if they do not match (match what I do not know) the ArgOS will mark the file as invalid, and it will not install. It seems Windows 10 and above will modify the file date for some reason. Perhaps it is antivirus checking the file and the Windows OS updates that timestamp. Not sure. Just make sure you keep a backup of your IMG files, also make a text file with the file name of the file and the timestamp that is on there so you can check later. If the date changed, it wont work.
To get started with Bluebird / NXT, you need 3 things
1) ArgOS BIOS chip, available on eBay
2) An ArgOS installer, these seem to be generic, meaning one installer works for many different platforms. This is the installer gui to format the game machine and install the games...
3) ArgOS OS and Windows USB media. The installer copies these files to the game machine's hard drive for booting the OS
Note, Remove the Jurisdiction chip from the CPU. Jurisdiction is now a file stored on OS the installer media
4) You need to swap the primary and secondary video connections. It seems ArgOS swapped primary and seconday video ports.
You also need ArgOS game(s)...
You will now boot from the USB device, no more RAMClear card. Once the Installer loads, select Factory Reset to complete the setup.
Next, plug in the USB stick with the OS, Windows, and Jurisdiction... Click install..
Remove the USB stick with the OS, Win, Jurs and plug in the USB Stick with the ArgOS game you want to install.. Click install.....
That's pretty much it! You will have converted your BB NBOT system to ArgOS.
Actual game setup not covered here. But you can probably find the document if you Google "wms scientific games ArgOS user guide" and look hard enough
Welcome to the next level. Better sound. Better Graphics. ...
