I have fixed a sound issue on a 10MHZ S+ boards several times by replacing C43.  The first photo of your 16MHZ looks similar, but I could not see the capacitor number.  In the first photo of your 16MHZ MPU, look all the way down to the lower left hand side for the last capacitor on the board.  It is to the left of C60.  This capacitor is the last component in the sound circuit of a 10MHZ MPU, and it is in series.  If it is open, you will not get the spin sounds.

Thank you so much everyone for the help! The previous owners disconnected the speaker so all is well in the world. Thank you for laying it out so someone with the mind of a 5 year old like me could understand lol.

To revive this thread, I’m kind of having difficulty adjusting the volume now too. I press the self test button twice and it brings up a 0 in credits played and 2 zeros in winners paid. I’ve tried turning jackpot reset key until it says 3 but when I press spin reels, nothing happens. Any tips?

You need to get it to where you see a zero in the [Coins Played] window, and a 3 in the [WInner Paid] window.

Whatever number you have in the Credits display should be blinking, and is changed by pressing the Spin Reels button as many times as necessary to adjust from 1 to 9.

Would there be extra zeros in the winners paid window or would it only be a 3?

Also, make sure you have zero credits on the machine when trying to adjust any settings.

Open door, coin played 0
Press test once, coin played 0 winner paid 000
Press test a second time, coin played 0 winner 00 with second 0 blinking
Turn jackpot reset key 3 times (changes second 0 in winner paid) to 03, press spin reels and nothing happens. It just changes to the second zero in the winner paid slot (the zero on the left) and you can turn the jackpot reset key to change that number.

Just trying to make sure I’m not doing anything wrong. I’ve done this with zero credits on the machine and when I get to the 03 in the winner paid after pressing self test twice and turning jackpot reset key to get to that point, pressing spin reels just alternates between making the 3 blink and the 0 blink.

I just put in a 16Mhz MPU and an SP1019....SP1019 is a 16Mhz chip.
I had to see why you cannot change the volume.

On the first press of the little white Test button, I get 3 zeros in the [Winner paid] window and a zero in the [Coins Played] window.
On the 2nd press, I get a 2 and a zero in the [Winner Paid] window, and a zero in the [Coins Played] window.
I then turn the Jkpt/key once to get a 3 and a number 1 in the[Winner Paid] window...the [Coins Played] window stays at a zero.
That's when I see the SPIN button light up, and can press it to change the 2nd number in the [Winner Paid] for the volume adjustment anywhere from 1 to 9.
A setting of 1 is supposed to be the loudest.
When you set that 2nd number for the volume, keep turning the Jkpt/key until all the red LEDs go out or close the door and the game should  be ready to accept a coin.
Good luck!

Got it, for some reason mine requires 3 presses of the self test button to get to the page with a 2 0. Thank you for the help!

Maybe it's because of the SP984...lol
That chip probably has that extra page for some reason...no biggie.
It would be in the PSR (Program Summary Report) for the SP974 chip...if anyone cares to look.
