Need to clear memory on a MK6 CPU in a Pelican Pete game
« on: May 25, 2024, 07:01:58 AM »
I have a ext. board and the set chips but no instructions. I know where the ext. board goes onto the CPU, but I'm not sure which set chip goes where in the ext. board. The set chips say U70 and U83. Both say Artistocrat Mk6 1-160 2008. any ideas? Thanks!

I printed this out from the old website and the instructions are long and complex and not sure they apply to my machine. My set chips are not marked U3 and U2, the are marked U70 and U83. The system base is S2007-3648-02. Series MK6.

U2 and U83 are the same chip.  U3 and U70 are also the same chip.  Doing the initial ram clear is the easy part.  The machine settings are a lot more complicated.  The clear/set chips should have a designation on them that tells which iteration they are.  An example would be 6.03.04

Thanks. All it says on the chips is Aristocrat MK6 Set chip U70 (or U83) (1-160) 2008. I suspect the company that said they fixed this issue and cleared the ram lied tome. So what is the procedure? Will it be obvious when I turn on the machine?

This is more than a couple of posts can describe.  If you put the set/clear chips in and turn on the machine, you will get a screen that allows you to select the type of game (Reel Power, Multiline, Cashman etc.) and in several cases, a selection within the category.  Once this is properly selected, then the lower part of the screen will tell you what buttons to push to clear ram.  Then it takes you to a second page where jurisdiction,  (and jurisdiction options), money setup, game specific info including credits per line, and variation is selected.  Once these options are chosen,  the selections can be saved.  Then the machine is shut down and the set/clear chips are replaced with the system chips.  On rebooting, turning the audit key let's you clear spram and allows operator settings.  This is a snapshot of the overall process, and the correct choices are needed to allow the game to operate.  Pelican Pete is Multiline 50 (2) var 3.
