17" GameKing CRT Monitor Issue.
« on: June 08, 2024, 02:35:17 AM »
I have a 17" GameKing CRT monitor and recently I noticed the screen quickly "pulse", like there's a power issue.  My question is if this is a sign that the monitor is ready to go or could it be something else.   I'm asking because I'm not sure if I should change out this monitor for an LCD or could it just be a simple fix.

In my opinion a CRT is worth saving, but it could be a number of issues causing that problem. The trend lately has been to replace with LCD which financially might make sense unless you repair the board on your own.

You can send the board in to one of our supporting vendors for repair. If you haven’t worked on a CRT board before a 17” with touch screen might be a little intimidating.

Do you solder or work on electronics at all?

Chris

Thanks  Chris-socal.  I've noticed that even the colors of my CRT are what they use to be.  I was asking about my current CRT to see if it is on its way out and needs to be rebuilt.  I've looked at replacement LCD that seem to be a plug and play solution.  I called Spin,INC and he recommended this https://www.spininc.com/lcd-igt-17-inch-game-king-i-game-plus   which I would slide out my current CRT and slide this in.

That is certainly an option if you don't mind investing that much.
I sent you a PM with a few thoughts. What state are you in?

Chris
