Reel Slot machine Cleaning products
« on: June 26, 2024, 02:41:35 PM »
Curious what you Pros use for cleaning your Reel Slot Machines OUTSIDE Cabinet, Glass, Buttons and REELS (if you DARE)?

Glass Plus is useless.
On my OUTSIDE Cabinets, I 've had great luck with Quick Auto Detailer!
On 2 of my reals there is a faint fingerprint spot, but I think, attempting to clean the fresh and slightly sticky, stock reels would cause more "blurring" and smudging than just leaving it alone?

I don't know who IGT hired or where, to make those horrible, unprotected reel strips.
I've only seen  :sherlock: them on the S2000 platform for a bunch of games.
Whoever they contracted to make them, did not add the protective Mylar cover over the graphics.  :duh:
You cannot use anything to clean them at all, or else the graphics WILL smear.

For THOSE unprotected reels, I just use a dry super soft cloth.

For general cleaning of chrome and glass I use non-ammonia glass cleaner. I never use ammonia on my slot machines or my cars. Ammonia has this ability to slowly erode anything that is softer than glass, which is a lot...even metal (depending on type). Ammonia can get into the trim around the glass or buttons and sit there emitting fumes onto the artwork that's on the backside, over time you develop flaking or fading. Ammonia free cleaner is safe if it gets on painted surfaces, wood, chrome, button caps, etc. If you have a European car avoiding ammonia is a must, their trim often has real rubber and ammonia is a huge enemy. Stay away from Ammonia unless you need to strip everything off of a surface.

When I sell a slot machine to a newbie I typically give them a can just to get them in the habit.

There is my rant for the day. :)

Excellent responses here!

For dirty buttons on newly acquired, used machines I've had great success with Car Cleaning Gel / Slime
