VLC 8825 Error
« on: October 04, 2024, 07:14:21 AM »
I receive a System Initialization Failure when I start up my machine. Does anyone know what the issue could be, it does not list a error code only 0?

I have an 8825 i just got in from a client who had it in their barn, derelict, for over 10 years. I had this issue for the 1st hour the game was powered on (constant error 0 shutdown/re-boot). however, I believe the lithium that was dead on the board was able to gain enough residual voltage from being on, to almost re-gain normal functionality upon boot. I still need to change all batteries, I need it to function properly. Given my current experience with VLC (this is my first VLC, I do Bally, Williams, IGT (Sircoma) I'm in the dark just as much as you. But after I let it sit ON for a while (error 0 resetting), I pressed the reset button and it booted without the hard Error 0 reset occurring. Then I was able to change Time/Date thru settings to get it off the default values, exit Service menu. and Bobs your uncle. Given that, T/D error will appear every power cycle, I'm trying to figure out what the next steps are to fix this issue not upset the Watchdog Circuit. I'm sure you've read every thread about VLC saying "If you need to do a factory reset, without the proper chipset that nobody has, then its a boat anchor" I'm currently trying to figure out what my best steps are to replace batteries without upsetting critical data the game needs to see 24/7 (if those button cell batteries even had enough voltage to save that data to begin with, I never even tested) I/E, Injecting voltage to the right spots with a bench supply whilst changing all batteries. if I figure out any new knowledge ill let you know. Being said, their are still resources available to repair VLC boards. so in the event it does lock up upon replacing batteries, your not SOL. Will report back soon. I also fought screen calibration issues once i got past Error 0 in its current state (it had no idea where i was touching) but bashing on the screen long enough in the service menu I was able to get to the calibration menu (given I believe their was no calibration data saved, all my touches I inputed registered about an inch higher and 3/4 of an inch to the right), If you're able to get past your error 0 but your stuck with a touch issue, highly recommend taking the metal monitor bezel off and cleaning the touchscreen glass thoroughly (gently wet a rag with glass cleaner, let it sit till it feels almost dry, use that rag to clean all debris that was hidden underneath the bezel, leave bezel off for calibration) and see how far you can get.
