Aristocrat Regal Super 22
« on: October 30, 2024, 04:13:20 AM »
My Aristocrat Regal Super 22 is having lots of issues. The reels hardly spin and whenever they do decide to spin, the payouts are wrong.
It also has an issue with the reels sometimes sitting out of place, preventing the door from closing.
There also appears to have missing parts, damaged springs, bent and deformed payout fingers plus an insane amount of grease.
Most recently, the sliders that drop coins when the machine pays out have quit working.

I'm considering a complete rebuild of the mechanism considering how many times I've had to remove it from the cabinet so I could fix it.
The left side of the machine took a hefty bump after falling about 15cm from the trolley when I was wheeling it into the house. I sure hope that this bump didn't cause damage that I can't see unless I dismantle the mechanism.

There is a 2 part video on YouTube where someone rebuilt a slot machine mechanism which was dismantled right down to the nuts and bolts which if I chose to dismantle mine, I'll be using it to help with putting my mechanism back together.

I took the machine apart, cleaned up the excessive grease and put it back together.
Some parts were realigned, others not so much. I ended up taking it apart again and then doing a second reassembly. It now runs much smoother and many of the misaligned parts are now back in place. I'm currently fixing the coin wheel and then will try to figure out why the kicker isn't spinning the reels.

I can't find any service info and the only manual I did find is locked behind a paywall.

Can you post a photo of the mechanism? It might be similar to another Aristocrat or even a Mills mechanism.

I'm going to PM another member and see if he can recommend an alternative manual. Or... he may have it.

108CAM,

I know I have an Aristocrat manual somewhere. However, I believe it is for the newer machines (which would not apply).  Unfortunately, it has been boxed up and put into storage.  If I come across it, I will confirm.

In your photo I can see all of your payout discs are askew.  They all need to line up properly.  When these are not lined up it will cause payout issues, and the reel will not spin properly.  The reel kicker uses those tabs to start spinning the reels.  Since your photo shows the reel assembly completely dis-assembled I believe the indexing will be your problem.  I am not too familiar Aristrocrat but with machines like Mills they have small indexing holes on the payout discs to help align them.  Then you need to align the reels/symbols to the payout discs. It can be a real pain and trial and error if you have never done it before.

Also, you may want to check the kicker plate to be sure it's not too worn.

Thanks for picking up on the misaligned payout discs. I'm currently repairing the coin mech and when I've finished fixing that, I'll move onto the reels and payout discs.

I somehow managed to crack the paywalled manual out of it's financial hole and it is now stored on my computer.
I'm also going to copy it to my external HDD as a backup and upload it to my Google Drive so I can read it on my iPad.

That manual was a life saver. The coin mech is almost fixed (Just need to adjust one part) and the entire handle mechanism now moves smoother than what it did when I got the machine. It was getting partially jammed on something and had a very sharp clunk which is now gone. I also put the reels back in and have been doing test runs to get everything moving before I put the breaks back in. I also think the kicker has worn out as a result of the machine being played in a partially broken state.

I've made lots of progress, thanks to that manual.
The kicker is now spinning the reels, the payout slides and their associated fingers are now in the correct order, the vertical fingers now move out of the discs and all 4 reels spin. (The leftmost reel is still a bit stuck)

The springs for the vertical payout fingers need to be replaced because they've got too much tension. I have to run the mechanism with the springs removed or else it won't work.

I'm also working on the coin wheel and getting it aligned.
