IGT G23 Game King "Button Panel Tilt"
« on: November 22, 2024, 07:39:21 AM »
Hi all! Can someone assist? I had a TellTale battery error come up, so I replaced the TellTale. When I re-booted the machine, I then got this error "Button Panel Tilt - Button Disconnected, Power Down Before Fixing, Please Correct the Error." I installed a new 14-button ribbon, but that didn't work. I also tried a different HDMI cable - the one that runs from the buttons to the back circuit board, and that didn't work either. Does anyone have other ideas on this? Thanks in advance!

Are you able to read those buttons ( are they just really faded?)

When you start the system, watch for each button to display CDSA, a button number and a version number. See if all your buttons have a number assignment. That will switch to "USB Timeout" after a while.

These buttons are sooo expensive to replace these days.

Hi LifeTilt. I really appreciate your assistance with this. The buttons all worked perfectly and were very bright before this happened. They are not faded. When the machine is fully booted, button #5 in the top row shows a dim "Have Fun!" and button #4 in the bottom row shows a bright "Have Fun!" When I first start the machine, button #5 on the top row quickly shows a bright "04 v.99" and button #4 on the bottom row quickly shows a bright "08 v.99" They both then change to "IGT DynamiX Buttons USB Communications Timeout." None of the other 12 buttons display anything. The error message says "Button Disconnected," but nothing appears disconnected to me.

Even with the tilt you can go into tue button test menu with the ekey.  I'd use that as you can light up individual buttons.  If they light up when told, they're being addressed properly.

If one or more isn't, but others are, bad connection to that button perhaps?

From your pic it looks like you have a v2 board as well, the removable one with the yellow handle.  If you pulled it out to replace the telltale battery, with the machine off, ensure the control board with the telltale battery in it is fully seated back in it's slot.

There is a Blackfin controller reset button on the board since the controller is in the board and not seperate on v2's.

Worth a shot, can be pressed with the machine up and running to reset the controller.

Thank you, sccarlso! I did the button and switch test with the e-key. Button/Lamp 6 turned off my white money-reload button and Button/Lamp 8 turned off my Cash Out button. Nothing happened when I hit the other test buttons. I also disconnected and removed the telltale box again, and then re-seated and reconnected everything. Same error came up. I also hit the controller reset like you said. When I did that, there was a lot of dim "action" with many of the buttons that weren't displaying anything, almost like they were trying to come on but couldn't. Then they went blank again. And one more change, bottom row button #5 is now off. It used to have the blue back-lighting like the others, but now that's gone.
