The bill validator did work but with another MPU. I had two very similar machines at the time each with different ailment, so I used the MPU from this machine to complete another so it could be sold. I purchased a used MPU from a trusted NLG and Slot Community member to complete this machine.I installed the mains, graphics, and game chips in the purchased board.
There is no coin handling so the BV is important for me to get going.
The machine clears and sets up just fine. When it boots up, the bill validator cycles and strokes the stacker mechanism and stops as if it were ready to go. I have both the cash box and cash box door switches bypassed.
When I close the door(or simulate by pressing and holding the mechanical door switches, the bill validator does not pull in a bill.
With the door open I accessed the diagnostics menu and hit the Coin and Bill Validator test screen. The bill validator immediately starts it cycle but the screen shows “Invalid Protocol” and after the counter rolls up to 10, the message at the bottom of the screen shows “Communication Device Error”.
I purchased a replacement BV and side board from another trusted community member and installed it but ended up with the same results.
In my research, I saw your post about being sure to reset the BV and thought I would reach out. Thank you.
