I try and get a few $1 chips from each casino I visit.
I display them on the wall of my home casino.

I purchased a roulette wheel (full sized John Huxley)
And have 400 of each color of chip x 12 colors.
They are all logo-Ed the same as my banner picture.
Casino quality chips.

I also have a 1000 chip set for my blackjack table.
These are logo-Ed with “dunes” casino in the various denominations from $1 to $100.
These came from Spinnittis. They are the proper blue, red, green and black.

I have considered redoing them over in my home casino logo but to get high quality inserts printed with denominations in small runs gets expensive and I would want to remove the other sticker insert. With the commercial grade adhesive - I would not look forward to that experience.

My next big expense will be getting my own cards produced. I want to do the decks up with leprechauns for face cards, shamrocks instead of clubs. Then various other symbols like a green Celtic knot in the shape of a heart etc… generating the images are much easier now with AI tools.

I won’t be ready for this years St. Pats party as production time is too long. They get economical when you get 250-500 decks done.

I bring in dealers for the table games and we play with funny money and tokens for the slots and poker platforms so everyone always asks what they get when they win. One year I gave away bars of Irish spring soap with themed “monaghans Irish pub and casino” labeling and another year it was shot glasses with the logo. I still have about 700 shot glasses left but that Irish spring stuff had to go as I could not stand the smell. I had a gross in boxes in my storage room and when you opened the door you would about fall over. I have worked in poly-styrene plants that were less offensive.
If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.

We have some members that are very proficient at label making!!

Careful if you visit pokerchipper.com as you could catch the chip bug!!!  I must say the slot machine bug is a bit more expensive! LOL!

I don't collect chips, but I saved a few that were in slots that I restored.
For some reason, I think because of mass flooding in the south, I have a few riverboat casino tokens.
I'll have to dig around for 'em.

I must be part Scott as I cringed at the prices of the Trop chips the day after the place came down.

I'm new here and getting used to this forum format.  I have to say that I started chip collecting in the 90's and it was truly a great hobby and still is but a couple things have happened over the years that have been quite a turn off.  It seems that new chippers have a lot to look out for!  The hobby is small in comparison to other hobbies and a few key players keep trying to control things from the money end of things and are always exerting max pain to profit. (shame)

I fell into the slots hobby, I have 14, and restoration with some and latest and greatest with a few others.  I found some very helpful folks and appreciate that!  I have to think that slots collectors is a much smaller hobby segment as we (chippers) float boxes of chips around the world by the hundreds daily, not sure freight companies are delivering too many slots to homes each day. I could be wrong!  Slots are a bit more expensive but so much damn fun!!

I guess I am proficient with older and some newer IGT's and getting there with SG or L.A.W (SGI).  I bought my first Aristocrat and damn what a learning curve!!  I have locked up my Helix 3 times now!!!!

I keep forgetting to reply. I have a "collection" of chips... of sorts. They're all in a 5 inch concrete chunk that came from the foundation of the Sands or Frontier I believe. That was how they disposed of casino chips sometimes, not realize they might be "found" later.
I'll post a photo when I get home Monday. I wanted to reply now because I kept forgetting!  :fryingpan:

That’s awesome. Can’t wait to see that. I’ve seen a few of those chunks of concrete with chips and tokens in them. They’re very cool interesting that they used to get rid of them that way I guess you’re right they figured nobody would ever find them or that their hotel would be standing there forever.

Ok here's my chip "collection"  - of only one visible. I bought this off eBay years ago and this was a chunk found under the Frontier Hotel after it was demolished. I guess I should break it up and see if there's any more inside.
Here's an interesting link to an article on these interesting finds.

I would be inclined to keep it intact.
Likely worth more as that chip by itself looks pretty non-descript.

If you’re so inclined I would take a chisel and crack it down the middle leaving the face that you have intact and see if there is something more internally. Perhaps doubling up on the value by having two sculptures.

Otherwise the only other change might be to get a nice hardwood base or onyx plank and epoxy the stone to it along with a name plate stating the casino, and the date of the implosion.

Nice piece of history.

Sorry RivieraDanny - I didn't mean to hijack your thread here. I may split the topic off so yours can be kept "chip specific."

Ok I bashed the concrete chunk to smithereens.  :wife: Unfortunately no more chips... but the one visible came free and, yep it came from the Sands. I don't know much about casino chips but apparently they have a center weight. I found this one but it actually had migrated away from the center. Maybe they took a sledge hammer to the chips before pouring them in the concrete?  :Scratch-Head:
I kept three small chunks that show the impression of that chip and another. Maybe I'll find a small display case where I can mount them along with a card that describes how they got that way.

Spinitti's and others have these chip carriers - clear see through acrylic designed to hold multi chip racks.

https://spinettisgaming.com/products/chip-carrier-for-600-poker-chips?_pos=4&_psq=chip+carr&_ss=e&_v=1.0
This might be a good case for your "collection" as you could adhere parts to the center post as well as the base.

Dang!!! Just popped it in my mouth. I thought it was an Altoid!! (remember those?)  :24:

Yes I was happy that sort of fell out as I broke up the concrete. It was almost the same color as the concrete but I noticed the shape and realized it fit in the center. I had no clue that chips had the little weight in them. I think I will try and find a small display case and add a card explaining "dig chips." And yes I'm happy at least it was a $25 chip and nothing lower.
