First Machine! S+ with DBV-200
« on: February 17, 2025, 12:04:06 AM »
I just bought this machine a few hours ago knowing absolutely nothing about slots. I've been reading like crazy but a bit lost.

First - Where the heck are the dip switches on this thing? It only accepts $1 bills and nothing higher. I can tell from the label I need to update the FW (latest appears to be V2.61-04-03?), but I don't think I have the right tools for it. Switching to a WBA seems like way too much work in terms of cost and time so whatever I can do to keep this would be great.

Second - This may be the wrong spot for it, but it seems everyone here is super knowledgeable. I've been putting quarters to play but I can only put 2 quarters in and play. Is there a setting to load in quarters and build up a credit?

If this is relevant - 4254 Type 5 - 1048

Thank you!

Located in Austin, TX.

 :NLG_WELCOME:
The SS4254 is a REEL chip program that contains the awards and payouts that are on your glass art.
The SP1048 is the GAME chip.
Think of it as the operating system like Windows 10 or something like that - it runs the REEL chip.

To answer your second question, you can change the GAME chip to SP1137.
This SP GAME chip uses a SET086 chip to enable the bill validator and supports Montana-style "Semi Euro credit".
In other words, all the coins you throw in after the first 2, will accumulate in the credits display window.

To get the SP1137, and SET086 chips, you might want to get a hold of NLG member named RB.

To find out more about your machine, go to this link I got from the NLG Homepage...>>>

On the bottom of the DBV-200 head is where the dipswitches are located. Most likely it needs updated. There is two types of heads , EPROM or flash memory which is located on the bottom next to the dip's.  You can check with NLG member RB Ronald Ball for an EPROM if you have that type. I offer the service to update the flash style memory. PM if interested. I have EPROM if Ron does'nt.

Thank you for responding! Do I need to unscrew anything to get to the dipswitches? I don't see it on the bottom of the head unit.

Bless you! Thank you so much!! Here's the current settings, if you can advise how to update the FW or who can help that would be great. (With the goal of this thing accepting not just $1). I did check the settings in test mode 7 and 8 to ensure they are set at 1000.

I'll read the manual I found to look at what I can change on the dip settings - but open to any feedback in case you know off the top of you head.

Yep...you're on the right track.
There are tons of info on these things in the different sections of NLG.
Using my electron microscope, :sherlock: I was able to finally able to determine that you have dips 1-10 OFF, and dips 1-6 OFF.

Hahah blame the 1mb file size limit! I had to resize it and I was tired of doing it multiple times to get it down to the right size. Thanks again for your help; I reached out to Jim who referred me to Sunrise Side.

If anyone else can quote me an upgrade please let me know.

The easiest way to resize a photo is to take it with your cell phone then email it to yourself.
You will be prompted to reduce it. Then post the reduced image.

Some heads had a removeable chip. Easy enough to swap to one with the updated firmware.
Others were surface mounted - the latter need to be flashed. If you have the bins to do this with then you need a special serial cable to do the deed.
I would send mine out to get it done.
