IGT S-Plus coin optics question when using mechanical coin acceptor

I am going to use a imonex coin acceptor in a S-Plus, I was told if you want to use an imonex in S+ you have to cut the Q2 or Q4 diode on optic board. Can anyone tell me more about this, which one? and can I just remove the receiver and/or emitter? Just it or cut the trace maybe? What is the beast easiest way?

I didn't know the coin optics board had to have those parts removed just because the machine uses a coin mech instead of a coin comparitor. I thought those coin optics board parts were removed to help with nuisance coin acceptance problems. But maybe I am remembering this wrong, so I'll be watching for what others have to say.

If the parts are removed I don't think you have to cut board traces, you just remove the part.

I was told you do this so you don't get the 21 code all the time, which has to do with coin speed, so I am assuming the coin loses some speed when going through a mechanical or imonix accepter.

I would try it without cutting anything.  I have 2 s+ with coin mechs in them and get no 21 errors. They may have already been cut though by chance, I haven't looked.  If you put in an extra coin it spits it out after the spin.

I did this mod to a pair of coin optic boards I have that were giving my problems.. I carefully removed the component with a sharp razor knife. I cut the solder holding the component to the optic board. Then I used my pocket knife to lift it off the boards. Be careful to not cut any board trace when doing this..
