PLEASE HELP! Questions regarding a Bally 6000 slot
« on: March 22, 2016, 11:43:31 AM »
I have a few questions about my recently acquired Bally 6000 slot. It was a Canadian machine. Now hopefully being converted to a USA machine.

Question #1... Where do the two wires that connect to the micro switch behind the cash can connect to? Mine go to nowhere.

Question #2...The machine came with a bill transport unit with the following labels on it...Model WBA-21SS CAN 502-03. It also has a tag WBA-12-SS USA-501-24 and another tag...WBA12USA 023 V3.00-031 WBA-12-SS 08-22-03 2003 IGT   The chip reads WBA-12 SS 023  V.3-00-031. It cycles when starting up but will not accept any bills. Is it possible to have this unit work with bills from the USA?

Question #3... I assumed that the bill acceptor mentioned in my question #2 would not work on American currency so I purchased a bill transport from a vender at the last Chicagoland Show that I was told was a working bill transport that would accept all new bills and would work in my Bally 6000 machine. My question is will this bill transport work in my machine? It does not cycle. Labels on it are as follows: WBA-12 SS  USA-501-00 -129. Another tag at the front of the unit reads WBA-13-SS USA-501-00-129, Another tag on top at front of unit reads WBA-13 Bally ID-003 V.3.80

Question #4... Both of the units mentioned above have different connectors at the rear of the units. I have the harness that came with the unit mentioned in Question #2 and that unit will cycle, but not accept bills. The replacement unit that I purchased mentioned in question # 3 did not come with a harness. I was able to acquire a harness that I was told was a Universal harness but when I hooked it up, the unit does not cycle. I am not sure that this is the correct harness. Can anyone tell me if it is? See pictures attached.

Question #5... When trying to set coin denomination for nickel play...
Dip Switch #2  Code 14 ON-OFF-OFF-OFF-ON-ON and doing a full ram clear, it comes up in Test #11
Option 10 as 0015? Penny Play? It will not allow me to change it to nickel play.

Answers are as follows:

Question 1: The 2 wires go to the micro-switch on the bottom of the cash can housing. Look for the little rectangular box with 2 screws penetrating the face on an angle. Those two screws attach the micro-switch to the inside of that rectangular box. That switch is actuated by the hinge like extension on the cash can door and detects wether the door is open or closed. If that switch is not present, not working or not hooked up to the 2 wires in question the bill validator will not function properly.

Question 2: I don't know. The wba-13ss you've acquired is superior, I would just stick with that.

Question 3: Yes the wba-13ss will work in your machine. I have 3 S6000's with the same validator and they all work great.

Question 4: Yes that appears to be the correct S6000 harness for a wba-13ss.

Question 5: coin denomination is set a DIP switch SW2 on the mpu board. It cannot be changed through test 11 options. To set it to 5¢ set SW1 - SW4 on DIP switch SW2 as follows. SW1 = ON  SW2 = OFF  SW3 = OFF  SW4 = OFF  after setting those switches do a full safe ram clear and you should be good to go.

There are some shady people in this world, stay in the light...

Thank you, for your reply.

I know that the wires are connected to the micro switch on the bottom of the cash can housing. My question was...where do they go from there? Those 2 wires are not connected at their source, where ever that might be.

I know that coin denomination has to be set on the dip switches, and then a full ram clear must be done. I already set the switches just as you said, and did the ram clear. but in the 11 test options....it shows that the machine is set for 0015 not 0014. The switches are set ON-OFF-OFF-OFF as I stated in my posting and I DID the full ram clear after setting the switches.

The bill transport unit is not energizing and therefore not making any attempt to take bills with the universal harness shown. I would imagine that the micro switch connections at the rear of the cash can housing not being attached at their source, might have some bearing on that also.
