Playboy 9000 won't boot

Played machine last week. Turned on today, no work. Has the upgraded 1 gig and now showing errors 2-2.1 read/64 - error 110 and 2-2.4 error 71

Looks like a battery is dead on the backplane and/or MPU. Replace the batteries and clear and reload.

I agree, battery issue.  Make sure you replace the backplane and the mpu batteries so you don't run into this in the near future again.

I know about 3 MPU batteries. No idea of the backplane. Where is it located? Is it the same 2032 button batteries. I just got MPU last summer and was told fresh batteries had been installed. How long do they last? Maybe it's just the backplane, but will replace all since it will all have to be set up again. Setting an Alpha is no fun. I love IGT.

Jim,  Just so you know.  Alpha's suck the juice out of batteries like you would not believe.  Especially if credits are on them or if you mess with the machine when it's off.  Just what I have seen-Alpha II has two of those big button cells in mpu!.  Most of the time it is the mpu batteries.  Luckily you only have one on the mpu and one on backplane in your case.

OK, I replaced the back plane battery (cr2032). It was down to 0.58vdc. Never knew it was there. Lasted for at least 3 years. Checked the battery (CR2477) on MPU still at 2.96vdc. Very surprised there was only 1 battery on the 1 gig unit. The 256 gig had at least 2. Cleared and set it up again. Had to do it twice because I couldn't find my notes, then realized I keep them in the bottom of machine with clear chip. All is GOOD. The Playmates are alive again. Now if there was a way to make the girls topless instead of risqué.
