Keychipping an 044 board
« on: September 29, 2016, 03:15:25 PM »
Trying to keychip my 044 board with Super Star Poker in it.
Put in the 28 keychip and got the correct screen.
Chose keychip only, and hit yes.
Screen comes up saying to wait for the operation to complete,
and then nothing happens.
No, there are no credits on the machine.
Don't want to clear it, takes too long to set it back up, I know, whine, whine, whine.

Any ideas?

I was trying to do the process by putting the keychip in the legacy adapter.
Tried it in the flash board and it worked.
We learn something almost every day.

Yep, you have to pull the boot chip out of the flash board and put Key 28 in it's place.  Glad you figured it out.

Well I remember reading a post that said to do it that way and avoid handling the flash board as much as possible, so I assumed it would work.  Got edumicated.  Thanks Tilt.

Get a ZIF socket for the keychip/boot socket on your flash boards, that's the way to go.

Make sure the ZIF socket has round pins and not flat pins or it won't fit in the existing socket.  This is where I bought mine:
