Terminal error on top screen during start-up?
« on: February 04, 2017, 09:50:53 AM »
I am converting to a vision. The game works just fine previously. I am told that the vision kit and monitor also work just fine and another machine. When I get everything put together and power up, I get  this message. (See picture below.)  Has anyone seen this error before? Any insight on where to go from here?

I personally haven't seen this error on any of my Visions. However, start with the basics. Make sure you have a jumper installed on J1 so you can see the entire boot process (if you haven't already), check the battery voltage in your top box, assure that you have 48 MB of ram (required for Ms. Little Green Men). If it worked before it may have had a different theme which required less RAM. Hopefully someone will chime in that has had this one before. I'll be taking notes...

The error seems to come up when trying to load ATA10052. The file could be corrupted. Do you have a data card with ATA10065?

What chips are you using? Version also. The only time I've seen all those dashes was with a NJ version chip. Definitely an old ATA for 52. Does it display RFA#?

Did you have any luck last night? If not, have you verified all the basics mentioned above? I'd change that version chip to VS009GX0 as well (unless you have multi-denom). Not saying it's your problem, I've just learned from others that it works well with all the vision games. I'm still leaning toward that data card as your problem.

Yes with 248's use 9GX0. Put a jumper on J1 in the monitor. See your SB is scratched out. Is it known good? My 5 reel MLGM has 380's and BGM172. I am guessing you have a 3 reel 1 line game by the BGM139

Replaced the software in the top monitor and now I'm getting this.  Any thoughts?

I don't have that version chip but I don't mind buying and installing it if I can ever get past these damned errors.  Aargh!!!

Do you have a side card in the monitor? If yes remove it. Not needed.

We still have an ATA issue, just a different one. The top monitor seems to be booting fine until we get there. Let me look through the previous pics after work. I seem to remember, before you changed the card, that during all the dashes it went through more files before it got to ATA. Namely BGM folders. Gotta get ready for work now. Also, 64 MB is overkill and may cause more issues once you get past these errors. A 32 and a 16 to get 48 is pretty much the standard. I'll check in later...

None of mine go thru the dot and dash sequence. Very possible it's the version chip. Mine all boot in around 2 minutes.

Thanks guys.  No side card in.  I only have two monitors and both have the same memory chips.  Went to Fry's to see if they us this memory and they (said they) don't.  I'll hold for the after-work update.  Thanks!

The 64mb your talking about. Top card size or memory? Never seen that much memory usually a 16 and 8, or 32 and 8 or 16 inside the monitor

I'm talking about memory as in the two memory chips seated on the top screen main board next to the jumper -- not the memory card that has the game software on it.  I have several of those memory cards - but they're all 64MB or 20MB.  The size of that card shouldn't matter, right?

Stumped...in your first pics it ran through RFA then BGM00000 then BGM00139 then ATA10052...error. In the last pic it seems to start at RFA and skip straight to ATA. Not sure why it is skipping the BGM's. I wish you had another vision theme that we could try to eliminate some things. Still thinking....maybe some other vision guys will chime in.
