Triple Play/Five Play digitized sound?
« on: February 28, 2018, 07:41:52 PM »
Hi everyone. My Triple Play/Five Play 3902 board came with a Multimedia Lite board, but in the Sound Test, there are no digitized sounds to test.

I'm wondering if that's even the correct EPROM for the game. Picture attached—is this right??

Thanks!

If the eprom was not the correct one, you would get an error during the boot process.  Does your game not make any sounds?

It makes the same sounds whether or not the Multimedia Lite board is installed—I THINK. I'll listen again, but I don't think the sounds are different. Maybe I should cash out and see what it sounds like.  :fryingpan:

I cashed out, then got the dreaded Coin-Out Jam—I have no hopper. I should have key chipped my game before I started playing it.

I couldn't find a way to clear this from the Setup menu. Is my only recourse to change the RAM chip on the backplane?

I think just keying it will work and if not then a ram clear will have to be done.

I had a bad feeling about this! The key chip didn't work because I had credits on the machine.

Also, I put in a fresh EPROM on the backplane, but that didn't clear the Coin-Out Jam error. I guess I need to get a 40 key chip to completely wipe  it? Would a 22 key chip work?

In another thread, rokgpsman beautifully described what the EEPROM on the backplane does, and it got me wondering: could I simply clear the Coin-Out Jam error by removing the battery and also swapping in a fresh EEPROM?

Kinda crazy, but it just might work, eh?

Why are you so opposed to just getting a key 40?  They are inexpensive and really a tool you need to have for this machine type. What you suggest will probably work, but why do all that when a key/clear is a much easier solution?

SWC00014 is for Triple Action Poker.  What are your base/gme numbers?

I ordered a Key 22 chip last night, and will follow up with the results.

My thinking was that if I was going to remove the battery and install a removable battery housing at some point anyway, I could just do that. But I can't find the battery housings that I bought, so for more-immediate gratification I did decide to get another key chip.

They're not the original labels, but it says:

Base: M000418
GME: G273

Here's a photo of the main screen—I think I changed the game lineup at some point, but don't know why I didn't add denominations. Hm. Maybe the chipset allows only one denomination?

Yeah, that set is single denomination and there also wasn't a sound file for it.

Thanks for the info, Tilt!

Hm. I just noticed the graphical neon effect on the game names includes the "tubing" to simulate an actual neon sign.

The 22 key chip from RB works great! I cleared the coin-out jam and have prevented this problem from occurring in other games. Nice menu, too.

Sorry, 17 key chip—you're old news!
