IGT S+ Triple Diamond Deluxe Troubles
« on: April 06, 2018, 08:24:19 AM »
I am very New to the world of repairing slot machines, so in advance thanks for the time and patience.

I have a IGT s+ Triple Diamond Deluxe. I recently went through a move and just got it back out of storage. When I went to fire it up it gave me a 12 error code. I replaced the battery on the MPU and got stuck in a 61 loop. Then I ordered a Clear Ram Chip and reset the machine. Now I can get past the 61 (hold the white button till it chimes, then turn the reset key) That gets me to a 65 code. I turn the reset key again and the machine displays all zeros and the spin reels button lights up. Hitting the spin reels button at this point will change what is on the display, but it will not take a coin or play. I feel like the spin reels button is cycling through a menu or something? If i hit the spin reels button enough it will eventually go back to either a 65 or 61 error and the loop starts all over again. Not sure if its related, but the green light on my comparitor is not on either.

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

When you get 65 just turn machine off and back on again and see what happens.

There are various 65 error codes, have a look at the chart in the link below and follow directions based on your error.

I'm at work now, I'll see what happens if I turn it off at the 65 error point and report back after I get home tonight. Thanks!

you were in the book keeping mode, depending on what SP chip is in your machine, it typically takes seven times or 13 times to cycle through the menu, then returns you to the actual status of the machine,  do as they instructed above, turn off the power and power up, program should load and you should see the insert coin lamp come on.

Since you cleared the machine, you may have to go back and set up some of the settings.

OK, so I did the power trick. It looks like it's back to normal except for my coin comparitor. My candle is solid up top and flashing on the bottom. The only thing lit up on the front is a zero in coins played. It will still not accept any coins, and the green light on the comparitor is still off.

On the S+ the comparitor light is off when the door is opened unless you are in the input/output diagnostic menu testing the comparitor.

You probably just need to adjust the sensitivity pot on the coin comparator. See this post for instructions: http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=14459.msg77832#msg77832

I get this every now and then as well.  Try flicking the slide on the comparator that holds the sample coin a couple of times.  If that doesn't do it replace the sample coin itself.  I know it makes no sense bu,t that has worked for me several times when it wouldn't take a coin.

The green light on the coin comparitor doesn't come on when the door is open, don't pay any attention to that, that is normal on the S+ machine. Post a photo for us to see your coin comparitor, maybe we can see something causing the problem. Ensure that the "sample" coin in the comparitor is installed correctly, in the groove on the left side of the coin holder, and that the sliding cover is positioned to the left end of its sliding range so that it is over the sample coin as much as possible. You can tighten the sliding cover screw if it is loose. Be sure the sample coin in the comparitor is the same type of coin you are inserting into the machine to play.

Wow thanks for all the responses. I adjusted the sensitivity on the coin comparitor (thanks for the video link) and replaced the sample coin. Then I noticed a loose wire on the plastic connector, put it back in and it started accepting coins and I am now able to play. Thanks for help!!

I still have a little work to do though. I noticed the arm doesn't return all the way on its own (maybe a replacement spring?) And it looks like I changed something while it was in book keeping mode because it now auto pays winning instead of leaving them as credit that can be cashed out by pressing the button. So if anybody knows how to fix those issues please help me out!

Push the credit/cash button (so that it is lit) and the machine will pay to credits.
