IGT S+ Double Diamond Not accepting coins

I have a 2 coin Double Diamond S+ and have reset using the clear chip. Now coins just drop to the tray. Coins Played = 0, Winner Paid = 1 Candle =bottom flashing, top = off . Have run door self test 13 and test pass 13 = 0/1 flashing does anyone have any suggestion as to what to look for next?

Opened to adjust volume and got error messages and flashing candle could not resolve then used the clear chip to reset

Many problems can be solved without doing a CLEAR ram process. Once you do a CLEAR you will create other problems for yourself. Clearing ram should be a last resort thing, after you've checked here or with other experts about solving whatever the problem is.

Yes, the machine instantly vaporizes.   

Why would IGT produce and sell the CLEAR chip knowing that it would do such a thing.

Essentially a clear chip rewrites the CMOS control chip on the MPU and Motherboard (the small board that the MPU plugs into).
This brings everything back to factory new settings. Nothing wrong with this.


You will lose your reel sounds and will need to turn these on.
You will need to reprogram your hopper max-pay and credit limits
You will need to reprogram your machine to put wins to credit and not just to the hopper
You will need a SET chip to re-enable your bill validator before it will take bills again.
You will lose all of the acounting history (plays, pays, coin in, coin out etc) from the accounting registers (no home user cares about this).
If you have a progressive you will need to re-enable this.

How do i re-enable progressive

Depends on the type of progressive.


If you have one of the behind the glass IGT progressives (Red colored 7 segment display) then you need a SET 90 chip.
This allows you to set the base amount, the incremental amount, max amount and which pay its triggered on (top or secondary).
There is a theme called Pure Pleasure that actually has 4 levels of progressives but I have never seen it setup that way in the wild.


If your using a MIKON link Progressive this is done with the standard game chip setup as one of the options and it is more of an on/off parameter. With older game chips (731 and older) this is a dip switch on the MPU board - generally speaking there is a sticker on the metal tray that outlines how to set the dip switches for hopper limits.

What else is lit up ?? is the Insert Coin message blinking or turned off ?


Have you replaced the sample coin in the comparator - If it was working before but not now then that should not matter. I have however had some tokens stop working on me...


I would also be tempted to open the door, turn the jackpot reset key and close the door to see if that results in different results ?


Dumb question but when you put the Game Chip back (post clear) you did align the chip correctly with the dot the same way as the others. In any case reseating your game chip and making sure there are no broken off pins is a good idea.

I have removed the MPU and removed the game chip and reseated it. Now it is working fine! Many many thanks for your suggestion it at least made me redo everything and got it working again. Now i need to fix the options that got messed up cause of me resetting the machine.
