Usually coin in jam is caused by a bad door I/O card.
With the machine off remove each door I/O card and check for bent or broken pins. Reseat each one and see if the problem goes away.  You will probably have to lift the door handle a few times to see if it resets.

all senet io devices can cause this not just the io cards. also check your credit and line bet displays for any signs of damage. your machine may not have a line bet display

It may also be the 6-6-3 display.(red LED) it won't hurt to have spare I/Os if it's the 6-6-3.

A quick key will fix that. Did you change from a 5-5-2 to a 6-6-3 or vice versa? It auto detects the display type after a clear but if you change it, you will have to manually change it in the key chip menu as that info is stored on the eeprom on the mother board.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

You are correct for reliability nothing beats a S+.
But S2Ks have more whistles and buzzers.
Need to know what type of 5-5-2 or 6-6-3 display that you have. A picture of the front of the machine in the display area will help.

That is a 6-6-3 for short glass.
Has it ever displayed anything at all on It?
Is this a one line 2 or 3 credit machine or is it multi line?
5 button deck?
What were the numbers of the I/O cards you replaced?
Did you ever get a clear/key chip set for it?
Picture of machine and I/O cards will help.

OK I/O cards appear to be correct. You will need to get a set of Clear/key  chips clear 224, key 45 are recommended for enhanced boards.
You also have coin handling that adds a little more complexity but should not be an issue.
I'm assuming the wheels never spin it just goes to the error.
Chances are the display is bad but a clear/key procedure may fix you.
Parts are still relatively cheap and you could probably get both display and chips while saving some shipping.
Use vendors here like RB or Ohiogaming that way your not paying EBay charges and you can contact them online in this forum.

You will have to key chip it again. Select WAMM in key chip config.
