Some of these machines need a small key pad. I believe K-lar has these for sale.

replaced power supply with an after market { meanwell RQ85D } I did a clear by pulling the board that was explained in another post and switched jumpers j15 to j14  and back. I  pressed the reset button and display will say reset and still return to the test mode. the display just automatic display one test after another that can be preformed could I have replaced with the wrong type battery {button cell } or would it make a difference, or could I have the wrong power supply ,I did have to adjust from 5.0v to 5.16v or do I need to send the boards somewhere to be rebuilted. no corrosion on boards but machine had been sitting for years

Do you have the small key board used to get into the programs. You might need one to get this machine working.

You might want to contact Alan at KLar at talk to him. He had the key pads for sale. I’m not an expert on the 5000 machines, but I have heard that the key pads were needed to get them setup.

One thing you can try is: Terminal 1 of the original supply was for PF detection.
If you hooked it up to the replacement supply somewhere remove that wire and tape it up so it doesn't short to anything.
Another Bally recomendation is the supply 5V should be 5.16 VDC

Next do a clear of the MPU board, ther are various ways to do it, jumper option, pull I/O out of back connectors only, use clear chips.
If you need that document let me know.
Yes I do sell  the keypads, have 2 left, email me at aldor@coam.net for paying options to get one.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Did you try to push the "button test" on the MPU board (on the mpu board, you'll see two micro s/w buttons, it is the one on the left), or another way to try to sort it out is to do a RAM clear, if you don't have the ram clear chip, you can do it from the "jumpers connectors" from the mpu board (I did this many times when I worked as a slot tech)
I've attached a picture, if I remember well when I worked as a slot tech, this is the Jumper to do a partial ram clear. (place jumper on J14)

Move the jumper from J15 and place it on J14 to do a clear with jumper.
Another method is to pull out the I/O board part way, leave the ribbon cables attached in the front and pull it out of the back edge connector only.
Turn power on and tap test button, watch for clear on display.

QUESTION --is there any test for the backplane board, Im trying to determine what boards I need to send to possibly be repaired . I have several I/O boards and MPU boards with fresh batteries all had same results, machine power up all lights work but don't cycle. display flashes through a self test .reel test works, all the hopper test gives is a flash of led on the hopper pcb. I tried clearing by pulling the I/O board , and also moving the jumper on the MPU from j15 to j14.. didn't clear. .I know its not always good to just switch out boards but I had them available to me so figured that would be a more simple test . but machine still have the same backplane board. I have pulled connectors checked wires and pins and inspect boards for burnouts and found none. just need to know if a backplane board could cause an issue or should I be looking in another direction
.

My 5000 tester has lamps that show all I/O activity.
Never saw one for the back plane board AND have never seen a bad back plane board.
