S+ third wheel tilt

I did a real dumb thing..I was in a hurry and put the chips in backwards..I got a new set of chips and installed them ..the machine was running fine the after about 30. Minutes it went into a thrived third wheel tilt .swapped out the 2 and 3 reels and went right into a third wheel tilt..there were no errors on the display ...I believe I killed the reel capacitor for that reel..I am hoping it could be a Door sensor...I posted this before but forgot the reverse chip ...I just want to check all options before I replaced the board..thanks

Doubtful its a bad board (ie capacitor or chip issue).

1. Make sure that the reel is not rubbing anywhere. We recently had a person find that the reel glass was not in right and only when the door closed and then only slightly did it touch the glass. Reels are very sensitive due to people trying to cheat.
2. Swap reel 2 with Reel 3 - easy to move the reels around. They simply clip into place. If the problem moves with the reel then its a reel problem otherwise its something to do with that third spot. You can pick up a new basket assembly cheap if the problem moves. .
3. Assuming the problem still points to the third spot. On the board there is a collection of 5 resistors in the corner. Each one controls the operation of one of the reels. You will see 2 of the resistors looking brand new, and the other three will be less so. The S+ can handle 5 reels but NorthAmerican machines with 5 reels are very rare. Take one of the good resistors and move it to the center spot.

I did the 1and 2 ...I thought it was the number 3 ...on the s+ the door sen Aren’t the problem..unlike an s200,which gave me gray hair .lol

You aren't giving us enough information.  A reel 3 tilt would be indicated by an error 43 on the display.  If there aren't any error codes on the display, please tell us exactly in great detail what the machine is doing to make you think you have a "third wheel tilt".

Sorry..there was a 43 code and when I changed the reels there was the same 43 error code

It sounds like you haven't tried to clear the [43] code yet?

If the 3 reels are turning slowly and the [43] code is present in the "Winner Paid" window,
 open the main door and turn the reset key momentarily-the reels will stop turning.

Then close the door, the [43] code will go away.
When the display lights come back on, the reels will spin to wherever they were before the error came about
 and you should be up and running again.

If anything else happens, let us know in precise detail (chain of events) and we will try to help you from that point on.

I have done the reset ...the one reel is the only one that tilts ..I will turn on the machine and the third wheel tilt the other reels do not move...I was playing it fine ..then it just went into error 43 ..everything was replaced..I got the machine that was gutted except for the power supply..even the coin comparator was gone...I got it all together,but realized I but the chips in backwards one of the transtitor were very hot ..I got new chip in and turned it on an the reels did the spin and I was able to play ..the coins were registering and the payout was right ...the after about 30 minutes it had an error 43.i tried to use the reset key and the 43 still is there..I changed the reels out (put 2 in place of 3 and 43 still is there... thanks

It sounds now like some component relating to the 3rd reel on the MPU is shot.
There's only a few guys that know how to repair that.

The 3rd reel stepper driver IC and reel optic IC signals as well as the wiring & connectors from the MPU down thru the motherboard and out to the 3rd reel need to be checked out.
Could be something simple as a bad ground to the 3rd reel connector or something more complicated as an out-of-spec IC on the reel driver/optic lines on the MPU or motherboard. Maybe even a burned-out trace.
It can be very complicated as there's 9 wires connected to each reel.

I would be shopping around for a used MPU by placing an ad in WTB Classifieds section of NLG.
I highly recommend a member here named Badbaud...he's helped me before and may have a board or two.

Ok thanks,I will try replacing the logic board and go from there.i think the reversed chip maybe burned out something and go from there.someone had suggested moving a bad transistor with a good one since there are two extra ones on the board for the reels..thanks again
