I just got around to installing the Alpha 1 to Alpha 2 conversion backplane and a Alpha 2 v2.1 CPU in one of my Alpha 1 V32's today.

I powered it up and there was a NVRAM error. So I ran the clear card and rebooted it.

Everything seemed good, the game loaded (Texas Dice) and said I needed to set it up and that one of the NVRAM battery's was low.

So I shut it down and found the low battery and installed a new one.

I re booted it and now I am getting some strange error regarding the monitors

Nvidia 0 Failed to assign any connected display device to X screen 0
Nvidia 0 Failing initialization of X screen 0
Screen (2) found but none have usable configurations

Fatal server error No Screens Found.

I should mention that although it is displayed on the 32" monitor, it is not even readable.  The txt is all over the place and spread out.

I was able to barely read the error on the Ideck screen.  Although it looked squished.

I am running a  standard Tatung 32" touch monitor and the I deck.    Do I need to install the video topper?    I have one but have not installed. it.

Also not exactly sure where to connect the various things on the A2 V2.1 CPU  It has a K2000 Video Card

I have a DP to DVI cord going from the Right most DP port on the A2 CPU video card to the 32" monitor.

I have the serial touch from the monitor going to the primary serial connection (top I believe) on the A2 CPU

Not sure where to plug in the Ideck video and USB.    The video cable from the Ideck is a 15pin. Do I plug it into the A2 CPU . if so is it primary or secondary... If not do I convert it to DP and plug it into the video card?

Does the Ideck USB plug into the backplane or the A2 CPU?

Where would the video topper plug into if needed?

Thanks in advance your help.

I swapped the video serials/USB's connections to the CPU and got them to work that way a few times.
Seems to be a primary & secondary video outputs from the CPU.
I'd search for a schematic of the CPU although members here that have A2's will chime in on the correct plug locations.
The iDeck also has it's own output on the CPU for the USB connector.
I don't remember where the topper plugged into but if it's a serial or USB, then it should be the last thing plugged in - get the monitors and iDeck working first.

The Primary video display needs to be attached to the DVI port on the video card  (you will probably need either a DVI cable or and DVI-VGA adapter to make it work), or to rightmost display port on the video card with an adapter .  The iDeck connects to the top video port on the mpu (not the video card), below that, you connect the video topper.  The Primary touchscreen goes to the top serial port.  All USB connectors can be plugged into the backplane or MPU.  I personally put them on the MPU.
