Machine not firing up Urrrrr. MPU error code?
« on: April 22, 2019, 07:31:30 PM »
I can leave my machine unplugged for months at a time and when I'm in the mood to play it doesn't work  :duh: The machine turns on but does not go threw the normal steps, reels don't spin, no display.  The second yellow light is flashing slowly on my MPU board and when the light goes off the first yellow light and bottom red light flash together.  Any idea what me problem could be?  Thanks for any help. Last time I used it I had to replace the battery and then it worked fine, so not sure how any connections would magically fail.

If you had the machine unplugged for months I would start by checking the battery. If its less than 2.80v it needs to be changed. Has the Varta battery been removed? It does not need to be replaced.

Remove the coin battery and check it. Post a pic of your mpu board. The varta needs to be removed permanently.  If you have the enhanced board u16 needs to be removed also.

Has the green varta battery been removed?
Not unless if fell off from lack of use, like I said, machine worked fine months ago, plugged it back in now I'm getting these flashing lights of doom.  I figured the blinking lights on the board are a diagnosis code of some sort.
I looked @ my board green varta battery still in place.  Are you saying I need to remove it?

The Green Varta Battery when dead will leak acid and damage the board traces under the battery..

Do you know what MPU board you have? If its a 502 or 504 all you need to do is remove the varta. If you have the 1270 enhanced MPU you would remove the varta and the u-16 component. If your not sure post a pic of your board.

You have a 502 or 504. Just remove the varta, nothing else.

Does the cabinet light come on when you open the door? Do any flourescent lights come on when you turn the game on? You may have a bad power supply. You can check to make sure it's not loose. It's behind the reels on the back wall of 5he cabinet

The light are on, but no displays are on.  I did remove the reels and look at the power supply, did not seem loose.   Thanks for the help thus far.

Was just about to say the same thing, bad power supply behind the reels. No display lights is the sign of the problem..

As with anything electrical, confirm ALL plugs are tight and snug before declaring bad parts. And just to be sure, you replaced the coin battery with a new one, correct?

Only way I know to test one is to swap it to another machine.. Check on the main page at the top for sponcers. Midwest slots, slot rush or Ohio gaming.
