S2000 System Error won't boot Call Attendant
« on: August 26, 2019, 01:36:56 PM »
Ok you S2000 guru's.  Got one that's been kicking my butt.

Machine is a 3 Reel Triple Stars, 504 Board, SB100010  chip.

Here's what it's doing.

Tried a clear with IVC00097 and IVC224. Not sure if it's even clearing because I can't get past the System Error once the SB chip is reinstalled.

I get System Error and alarm. Reset key once shows Version CRC Error, Reset key again etc till I close door after holding test button. Says Initializing for a split second then right to Call Attendant. No additional errors displayed.

I've changed the Version and SB chips. Still no luck. Plus swapped power supply.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad version chip. Post a pic of the board with chips installed. If you get 2 amber lights on the MPU when clearing the machine then the clear chip(s) should be working.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

RB,
Thought it was a Version chip too based on the system error message, so I purchased a new (used) one on Ebay.  Same version as was previously installed. VS011GX1

Didn't change anything. Even replaced the SB Chip with same type listed for that game.

Could the Game Chips cause this?

Reconditioned 504 Board tested before installing. Old board had Varta damage. But same errors when tested again in machine, just unable to get door closed signal with original board.

I can upload a pic tomorrow morning, at work for the night now.

Thanks for your reply.

Here is a picture of the MPU with chip locations.

I've unplugged everything and tried to boot. Still same Version Chip CRC Error appears.

Maybe that wasn't the right Version Chio to begin with.

Machine is a 2 coin Triple Stars.

It's in the wrong socket. Move it to the one beside the one it is in (U44).

RB,
You're a genius. That was it. I had no idea, that's where the chip was on the old board when I picked up the machine. Bought it with that error, cheap.
Thank you for your help, I can now get into the Key Chip menu and finish this thing up.

Hahaha.  I really appreciate all the knowledge and issues that have been worked out in this forum!  I had this same exact issue only with a enhanced 1270 board.  I am working on this for a guy who said, "It was working perfect and I went into the menu to try to change what the ticket voucher said then it didn't work!  I didn't touch nothing else."   Should have known to check the chips first this wouldn't be a chip a home use owner would mess with....  U unless they were trying to figure out the clear and set chip....  Lesson learned.  Start at the first step of the ladder then proceed to the second.

Thanks to RB and ASH 100 for banging your heads against the S2000 and getting this figured out a few years back!   Hahah

Wow,

That was one of my first posts and probably one of my first S2000s.

I've only been in this hobby for a  couple of years and learn something new every day, and if it weren't for people like RB, Jim and countless others, I would have failed at this many times over.

This forum is a true blessing to anyone who uses it and I'm thankful for the supporting members who help out guys like myself!

Thanks for the memories.
