TECH - Jennings 400 HELP needed
« on: January 16, 2020, 04:09:55 PM »
Have a Jennings 400 I am looking at for a guy as a favor. Said slot was working but then all of a sudden it stopped. When I turn the machine on the CALL ATTENDANT light is lit, red light on the tower is lit and the display reflects 000. I am more a pin guy so my experience with these is very limited. I have the hopper filled with nickels.

Now with a quarter slot I had years ago when you filled the hopper I had to press a button to activate the wheel in the hopper so it would load quarters. With this machine here it appears all you do it load the hopper and the weight of the coins activates a switch to let the machine know it's loaded???

Any assistance in troubleshooting this is appreciated!

Oh, I did pull up the manual and reviewed the trouble shooting info and it just points towards the hopper being loaded.

UPDATE - Upon pulling out the Logic Board and reinstalling it the bell constantly rings and the machine pays out.

Thanks,

meSz

I have a few working logic boards left. I'll check to see if any are five coin.

I have a 78-050 5 coin 1 line board. There are many variations on these boards but it should work for you.

PM me if you're interested, or text 847 812 3542.

I hate to be a total newb, but why are there variations if they all perform as 5 coin 1 line boards?  I mean, I get revisions and stuff, but when it's the same board why were there differences?

I also need the same board, by the way.  :-)

I make a replacement board for the Jennings 400. I've probably done about 100 over the past 12 years, mostly to people from this forum. It has a micro on it that can be programmed for any payout schedule - currently I've done 18 different types. I still make them to order if people want them.

There are two major variations of the J400 main board, one for multi coin, and one for multi line. Aside from that, there are many other variations created with cuts and links on the board - I don't think I've ever seen one that didn't have patch wires all over it.

Be sure to inspect the connectors on the backplane that the Logic board plugs into , they can become corroded from battery acid that has leaked onto the logic board, take a good bright flashlight and look carefully at each contact, or snap a few pictures with the cell phone and zoom in, they should all be a beautiful uniform gold color, Zero corrosion
Cleaning corrosion on the contacts is usually unsuccessful or short-lived ....the real fix is to replace the socket
