BB1 Not Booting
« on: April 01, 2020, 10:41:04 AM »
Have a BB1 that will occasionally boot and run. Got it to boot yesterday and left on over night. This morning machine was running and playing game. Turned machine off and on and would not boot. The light on the LCD turns orange and then green for a few seconds and then back to orange. This continues over and over. Have swapped 24V power supply, lower power supply, CPU, mother board, LCD, video cable from a good working machine. Same problem.Have also installed different software from a known good game. Any ideas would be appreciated.

What do the power leds show on both the backplane and inside the mpu?  You could have a short issue with one of the power lines that feed the various components.  If would remove every peripheral that is fed power through a harness like printer, bv, button panel, etc and see if the machine powers up.

All the power lights are on and normal. Have a BB2 with a BB1 CPU.  Put the BB1 t comes on CPU into the BB2 cleared memory and booted game up. Put the BB1 CPU into three different BB1's with the same results orange light comes on and then green light comes on for a few seconds and then orange light comes on and stays on. The BIOS in the BB1 CPU's id 2000. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

You might have crappy caps on the mpu mainboard then, or something around those lines.  The monitor led is doing that because when you power up, it goes into ready mode looking for a signal, when it doesn't see one, it goes to sleep mode until it senses a signal.  This means your mpu is not getting past post to even send out a video signal.  If you have another mpu, I would try swapping the adastra board to isolate the issue, if it's that or the mpu's mainboard.

Have tried 3-4 known good CPU's with the same results. I seem to find the weird problems and this is driving me crazy.

Did you try unplugging any powered peripheral to see if you at least get a video signal out.  There might be a short on a harness or something like that.  Try unplugging everything on the backplane but the power to the monitor and the power from the power supplies.

Have tried unplugging one at a time. Will try your suggestion and unplug everything except monitor and power. Should at least get video.

It has to be cabinet related if you have already swapped out everything.  One of the harnesses has to be the culprit.
