back lit reels

have a 5 reel cleo   with some reel  lights that  a few light stay lit always  changed  lite board , small board on side of mpu cage harness from that board , swapped mpu  , looked for shorted lite sockets

Are they all on different reels or same reel?

Check for a burnt out bulb on the reels in question. We've seen a burnt out lamp on a reel cause the others to stay lit constantly.

all reels have 1 or 2 lit , i'll check for burnout bulbs , never had this one b4

Worth checking the bulb #'s also. I have gotten machines that had bulbs other then 359's randomly placed in the reels that would cause the shittiness.., some brighter then others.

It's a long shot, but make sure none of the bulbs have been replaced with LED's also. Use 359's and ONLY 359's.

You could also try removing each reel individually to determine which one is giving you the problem just make shore you turn the power off before removing them. I actually ended up with the same problem once from removing them without powering off first.    Sorry I forgot they won't light up unless you have all 5 plugged in. If you have another 5 reel machine you can swop out one reel at a time.

put in a another set of reels from ddr  but they do nothing they were not so the rub on front as wide as what I had in cleo and don't go in as far  what do dip switch's do on lite board? some have switches  a few don,t I'm not sure this game has right light board

I think the dips were for whether it was used on 3 or 5 reel games. LED boards were really different from standard. How many plugs do you have on your harness from the reels to the light control board? Are any of them black? Standard harness uses white/opaque plugs, LED has one black and two opaque

mine has no blacks on  whites and almost white there are 4 plugs

So it's for standard reels, you're good there. All bulbs are incandescent? And 359's?

yes all blubs no leds
I haven't change any blubs yet  but we use  161's
never had any trouble with 161

There are 2 reasons they use XE 359 for the bulbs in  back lit reels
They handle the on off cycle better than 161, 194.
Higher light output from the same current used by a standard incandescent bulb.

I  changed the wiring for reels and lights  also put in 1 good reel from another game  still same and move reels around  found 1 brunt socket behind reel 1 replace it  still same , also a few spots stay lit all the time on reels 1 2 4 5  , on sunday I,ll pull another lite board  hopfully the 3 I have were  bad, we been using 161 for about 2 years never had any trouble with those again   everyone thank for all the replys , any chance it could be mother board?

If it came down to it I would suspect the cabinet IO card before the motherboard

My next suggestion would be to start with a known good set of reels and work your way back to the MPU one part at a time till it works. Obviously there are many things that can cause this. Try not to use any boards you've already tried till you get it working, then try them to make sure they are good

also  I could put cleo reels in a 5 reel triple red hot sevens  that would rule them out or in  will try after race on sunday

Were there SG's that didn't work for backlit reels on a 5 reel slot Roz? I recall something about 3 reel slots doing that but not 5.Very good observation though...
