How can I bypass the main door switch that pushes in and out
« on: August 31, 2014, 08:14:42 AM »
I have an IGT S Plus Sizzling Seven that takes two coins (quarters). The candlestick wont stop blinking on the bottom indicating that a door is open. The button that goes to the main door (not the sensor) doesn't have any wire hooked to the 4 prongs on the back of it. I don't see any wires that have been cut. Is there a way to bypass this so it doesn't need to be wired  up?   Also my door to the cash box has no wires on it. Could it have been bypassed as well?  I have 5 that the same problem. Can anyone help me?

It's likely that all the cashbox door switches have been bypassed already by tying the wires together. The cherry switch on the main door was used for a cabinet light and isn't required. You may check to see if you have belly door switches which can also be bypassed by tying the wires together. How do you know your door optic sensors are working?

I don't know that they are working for sure. I saw that there weren't wires to those things. I am super new at this and thought I would take one thing at a time. LOL. Great that the cherry switch is not needed. On the cash box door I can not find any wires not even tied together. I didn't know if there might be a jumper on the board somewhere?  I don't see any switches on the belly doors. Just the knob on the right side that you pull out to open the belly.

If it's still there the belly door switch will be in the upper left corner of the belly door frame after the door is open. On the main door itself, but up in that corner. If they pulled the cashbox door switches they probably pulled the wires back and tied them together behind the enclosure. Generally you can tell if your optics work because the machine will reset after the door is closed and latched to indicate it acknowledged the door closing

You are saying the candle flashes. Does the machine play? It is normal for the light to flash after the door has been opened. That was a way for the Casino to know if the door had been opened.  It stops after the first game is played.

 :I_agree_1:

Have you played a paid game yet?  If so, the bottom light will stop flashing.

Yea Buzz, I've just shopped 6 S+'s that all had cherry switches on the cabinet. None had any wires. Also noticed the cherry switches on back of DBV had no wires too.

Why don't we think about this. I'm assuming were talking about a S+  upright machine and not a slant top. Now I'm going to go out on a limb and say that a S+  never left the factory with a cherry switch installed on the main door. I ask why would IGT put a cherry switch on the main door ?? What would it control ? The only thing I can think of would be a work light and S+  machines NEVER had a work light.OK so a Casino installs a cherry switch on the main door, you have to ask what it would control. back room monitoring, guess what when that machine left that Casino the back room was left behind along with the wires that went to the cherry switch. ( Casino needs the wires for the next machine )

Now a cherry switch behind a DBV  :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head: your going to have to post pictures of that one for me to believe it !!

Okay I just can not find any kind of belly door switch.  I have not played a paid game but have put credits on the machine with the little button under  the  coin comparator and the light does not go out.

With the door closed, does the game accept a coin and can you spin the reels? And as I asked earlier, when you close the doordoes the game do anything to indicate it recognized the door being closed?

Buzz, the cash can pushes the cherry switch at the back, but no wires on any of mine. Next. You have played a game using the credit button below the comparator. The light will not stop blinking because the DOOR was OPEN. It will not stop until the first game is played with the door closed. Are you unable to put credits on with the bill validator or coin in? Do you have a sample coin in the comparator that is the same as you want to play? Since you did a clear I think, you need to use the set chip to turn on DBV and set denomination. We are trying to extract info. from you to help.

No it does not take coins. It drops them straight to the tray. I have the denomination set to 25 cents and I have a sample coin in the comparator.  The reels spin when I put credits on it with the white button below the comparator. It wont take bills and the bv is not lit. I will use the set chip to make sure they are paired up.  The door seems to be closing correct because it will go to the spin when I close it.

Jim  Let me make a point, you and I have never had a problem with each other that I recall and what I'm about to say isn't just aimed at you, it's the whole site going to crap. We have a new member here that has said he doesn't know anything about his machine and needs help, and that is what this site is all about. You posted that you had a cherry switch behind a DBV and how you say the switch is behind a cash can.  I knew what you were trying to say but a new member would take you for your word, after all your a SR Member and you should know what your posting is accurate. ( The cash can and a DBV are two different things.) Matter of fact I've never seen a cherry switch behind a DBV cash can.  WBA yes you will find one but not a DBV.

anit4771  Sorry about all this, but I've been on the rag for 40 years so what's a few more months.

You finally told us a few thing that help. First off forget about the BV until after we get the machine to play on coins. You said the machine boots up and the reels spin, and when you drop a coin in it goes to the tray.  My guess you have a BAD coin comparator. This isn't recommended but is a way to test the comparator. Remove the Comp. from the machine and on the backside of it you will see what we call the Rake. It's about dead center of the backside of the Comp. and is a piece of metal that moves in and out when a coin passes through. Using a folded up piece of paper and block the arm in the open position, ( rake out ) reinstall the comparator, close the door and after boot up drop in a coin and see if you don't get a credit. For sure the coin is going to go to the hopper and if your coin optics are good the machine should play. Now a word of caution. with the rake blocked open any and all coins will be going to the hopper no matter what size they are. A mix of different size coins in a hopper can and will cause big problems if someone hits the cash out button.

Sorry Buzz, I use DBV as dollar bill validator for newbies I guess. You are absolutely right it is WBA with the switch. I feel like a dummy now. You just gave some very good advise. I hope he figures it out. You and I know trying to fix things without having them in front of us sometimes tough. I love repairing these machines. It is very relaxing for me.

Okay let me say I appreciate both of your input.  I put the paper behind the rake. The coin went to the hopper but did not register a credit.
All I got was a 3100 in the winner paid window. Now my error code paper says it is an extra coin out .And says to check for jammed coins or tampering.

open and close the door once or twice, clear the 3100 code, when it is cleared, drop a coin in and see what happens?  if it goes to the hopper and no credit is established, then your coin optics could be bad.  as for the switches you see with nothing on them!  they were used  to provide data to the casino as part of the card reading system,  if they bother you you can remove them, and your machine will not know it.

I am back to where I started. The insert coin is on. But when I insert a coin it goes to the tray. The candlestick is still blinking fast at the bottom indicating a door is open. I have gone through all the doors and they seem to be okay. Is there a way to bypass the candlelight. I feel like the light is whats keeping it from excepting a coin because it is in a tilt mode!   Or is there a way to bypass the main door censor (not the cherry switch) :

OK, one more time. If your machine is doing the maiden spin and lighting the insert coin all door are closed. The candle light will blink until a paid game id played. We suspect the coin optics are bad. Please take a picture of your coin comparator assembly including the optics under it. Have you tried turning the little screw on comparator full to the right (+) then full to the left (-) and leave it there to decrease the sensitivity? Your machine is waiting for a coin or credits from bills. Again we can't see your machine. Posting a 20 second video would be excellent. What about your set chip? Did you use it the way I described?
