S2000 with netplex error
« on: May 30, 2021, 05:20:35 AM »
Just picked up a triple Diamond strike s2000.  States Netplex error.

I tried a known working board from my vision machine, same issue.

I switched the power supply, problem remains.

With no board installed, the DBV fires up, but does nothing with board in.

Looking at the board, there was clearly some varta damage, but I am hopeful that it has been repaired already.

Any suggestions on the next step to tackle the Netplex error?

Is using the vision board a reliable way to test?  Thanks.

Start disconnecting the fluorescent light ballast one at a time,  the printer and the BV.

The machine has a hopper.  I tried disconnecting each ballast and the bill validator individually, no change.

first you have a good bit of damage on your mpu where the varta used to be. someone attached the wrong battery in its place that battery is not even needed on your board. second since your getting no disp your problem is a faulty bill acceptor, printer or with the display the harness or damage to mpu.

Understood that I may have to replace the mpu.

But with a known working 504 board, the machine still give a the netplex error.

I would like to nail down the Netplex error before just replacing board if possible

Reread his comments at the end of his post. It's describing possible issues for the no disp which will keep a machine from initializing. You can swap out those parts with know good ones. Unlikely the MPU but wouldn't hurt to use the known good one.

If a known working board gives same problem you issue is a bad bill acceptor or printer that is shorting out the netplex lines, the display/display driver board if its a 2 piece display, the wiring harness(they like to get pinched in the door), or the motherboard(backplane).

Turns out the green wire connection on the vfd was off :duh:

I must have unplugged 10 different peripherals before noticing.

That and a new board, and I should be in business.  That board is definitely shot.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Started some touch ups on the outside of the cabinet while waiting for a new board.

A couple of veneer chips had to be glued back down, and there is a 3x5 chunk missing.

Thinking of black blank plate cover up.  Any other suggestions?
