I acquired what I believe to be an older S+ today for $85. The data plate on the side is missing. Its a 3 reel, 1 payline, no provision for a BV, 10MHz main PCB with volume knob and mounted on the LH side of cabinet, RED, WHITE & BLUE theme. Seller was in the process of destroying it attempting to "fix" it. He replaced the battery, not pretty, but it works. Machine would light up, but nothing on the LED display. He didnt have a reset key and figured it was a plain "on/off" type switch, so he unplugged the wires and jammed a piece of metal between the plugs to permanently close the circuit. Probably why the 6amp fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse and plugged the reset key switch back up and used a key from another of my machines. Since replacing the fuse the LED display illuminates and gives a 61 error that originally popped up after he replaced the battery. Bad news is, and the reason for my post is that the self test switch/button is pretty mangled and is inoperative. It doesn't move at all. I've snipped the wires off and will see if I can do it the old fashioned way, just to see if things will clear out and cycle.
I'll be needing a new self test switch eventually, does anyone have a source? Original style or a replacement, as long as it can mount in the same location. Thanks in advance for any info.
