DBV 200 light
« on: February 06, 2022, 04:16:30 PM »
Any reason why both lights went out on my bill validator?  Replaced the bulbs but its dark.  Still works, but lights just shut off.
Thanks,

Was it working before?

If so, close the door, after a few seconds, the lights should come back on.

If not, then tell us what you did to the machine.

Assuming this was working and just stopped.....
IF this is a PE+ (Video poker) or an S+ (Slot) the light goes off if the acceptor is not ready to accept a bill.
Typically it would not accept a coin either at this point.

Common cause for this is that the door is open - which does not mean physically open - it could be bad or misaligned optics or another door like your cash can door is not properly closed.

If it still accepts coins then you might need to activate with a SET chip (again assuming S+ or PE+)

If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.

Thanks for your responses.  It’s a 3 coin S+.  Changed a game chip and then had to re-set the bill validator.  Everything went ok, the bill validator is working, but just the two lights are not.  I even changed both bulbs.  I mean it works, but just crazy how the lights just stopped.  (Coins work too!).
Perhaps I should try another BV reset?  I even swapped boards to see if maybe it was something there, but nothing.  I have an extra board on hand ‘just in case…’. Thanks to all who help us newbies.

Did the game protocol change ? please check the PAR for each game and see if it is the same.
If so you might have to flip a dipswitch on the validator.

No need to do a reset! if it is working. check the bigger connector on the left side of the 200 head, only has two wires on it, it sends the +5volt dc signal to turn on the lamps,  do test #27 this will turn on the lamps continuously. a common failure is abroken wire coming off the bet max button wiring, the lamp board gets its ground from there.

Hope this helps

Just wanted to send a shout to JIM about the bill validator light.  It indeed was the green wire on the bottom switch of the max bet.  There are supposed to be two greens together connected to the bottom of the switch - one had broken loose.  Put the two in a new clip (not sure what those gadgets are called) and the light was back on!  Problem Solved…. Thanks
