Update from previous post... machine on the left is up and running. I replaced battery on processor board ,it was leaking. Did the clear chip and still didn't work. All of the door stuff was dead except flourescent lights and the 25 cent in the middle of the readout panel. I did most all of the diagnostic things found on this forum (again thanks to all for sharing your knowledge). I ended up buying a motherboard(the circuit board that lays flat on the floor that the upright board plugs into) because it had significant acid damage. That was the ticket ! Up and running and I enjoyed working on it as much as learning about these machines as I do playing it.
I am awaiting parts for the machine on the right ,they should be here on Tuesday. That one also had bad acid damage to both boards, I did the battery replacement, clear chip, then fired it up only to get stuck with slowly moving reels and a code 42. I did move reel 2 to the 1 position and still got 42 code. Then swapped out the #5 resister for the #2 on the processor board. Still code 42 with the occasional code 43. I just couldn't get past it so I contacted one of the vendors here on this sight and purchased replacement boards. He seemed VERY knowledgeable and I am confident that It also will be up and running shortly.
